Hello everyone, I'm new on this forum and I'm so happy to hear about your helpful tips!!! I have a question, how do you make your lipstick stay on your lips and not on your glass of wine or on your cup of tea?? Do you have any tips?? I know that matte lipsticks are the best when you have a dinner with friends, but how do you do with "normal lipsticks"?? Sorry I'm french and sometimes my english is a bit bad!!lol :)
THANKS!!

If I will be eating and drinking a lot I use the super long lasting never comes off lip colours. I like Outlast by Covergirl in, I believe Flame. There are several colours and many brands that offer this type of product. It really doesn't come off. It's very matte but can make your lips dry. Just because it's long lasting and stays put doesn't mean it won't feather, so watch out for that also. Bonne chance!

Some of the modern products like color-stay are very useful.

In the golden era, Hollywood make-up artists in that situation would apply the lipstick then powder it well with loose translucent powder to set the lipstick. Then apply a second coat.

There are a bunch of recommendations in other lipstick threads as well, notably the red lipsticks thread.

You need to line and fill your lips with a pencil. Some ladies prefer a matching color but makeup artist Kevin Aucoin recommends using a neutral shade, and I've found this to work better than a matching pencil. Apply your lipstick, blot, powder, apply again, blot again.

I do this, and it works quite well. My lipstick lasts for hours, and it barely comes off on a tissue, if it comes off at all. Just beware of oily/greasy foods, as the oil will re-activate the lipstick, and it will come off again. Just take small amounts of the food on a fork, and be careful not to touch the lips!

Merci! for all the tips!!
It's just that I totally hate stains of red lipstick on a glass of wine!!! Every friend that I have told me that it's disgustinglol lol !! So I have another question: In every film from the golden era, those beautiful ladies didn't leave any stain on a glass!! Do you think that it was correct to just remove it with a handkerchief (I do that sometimes... especially when I'm alone in a caf?©)!

i'm new here too and love the fedora lounge:eusa_clap ...here's my method :
try using a long wearing lipliner that is close to the shade of your lipstick (not darker) to line lips and than, using light srokes, lightly fill in almost entire mouth with the liner and smear just a bit with finger to give lips a more naturall look. put just a tiny bit of transparent powder on lips and remove the eccess with powder brush. than use a fine lip brush to apply lipstick and blot with a single separated tissue (not the 3 ply stuff, creates creasing).
i personally love revlon's colorstay lipliner in siennas and wines and super lustrous lipstick in volcanic red and cherries in the snow, i also like fire and ice, but my husband says it makes me look like an uh "working girl", men, go figure...
sorry for the long post, hope i was at least a bit helpfull...

I think the films are not like reality... they probably rushed in and switched wineglasses between sips!

i use kryolan tanslucent loose powder, that's a german brand i got in berlin while i was working there, i used a lot of their stuff for photo shoots and t.v. commercials, they are very good quality, longlasting, and very affordable. they also have a great cake-mascara and great lipstick palletes. whenever i'm in berlin i stop by, this store is like paradise for me....lol

I find with most "colour - stay" sort of lipsticks tend to dry your lips out.

Instead, I use foundation over my lips as a primer!

I use Dermablend. Mostly because I got it from my mom. She wanted to cover her vitilago but decided the colors were all wrong for her skin, so she gave the stuff to me. I love the concealer that she gave me, and this powder is great. Probably no different than anyone else's, but I got it for free, hehe

OK, this might sound disgusting, but it works: Discretely lick the rim of your glass before you drink. It really works, just make sure to only drink from the place you licked and you will leave no marks. Oh my, how stupid and disgusting this sounds, but it does the trick!

I also have one foolproof trick for lipstick that lasts forever: Max Factor Lipfinity (and similar products from other brands) is really longlasting, but I find that when it first gives, it kind of peels off my lips bit by bit in a really not flattering way. I also find the colors o be to soft and weak, i never managed to find the bright reds I prefer. So here is what I do:

First, I put on one coat of red Lipfinity. Then, before it is completely dry, I put on a coat of bright red, higly pigmentet lipstick. I use a cheap brand for this, it really doesn`t matter as long as it is rich and highly pigmented. The result is that the two layers kind of melts together and creates a really great color that is so everlasting that it is actually difficult to remove even with makeup-removers. It does dry out the lips, though, so this is not for everyday use.

I find the lipstick really matters too. I use MAC Russian Red with their Red lip liner and it does not budge. Even after eating, I find that it stays on really well with no touch ups needed. And of course, the powder trick everyone mentioned adds to that "stay-on" power.

Yes, all of the MAC matte lipsticks are great and have lots of staying power. Their satin and amplified lines don't stay on as well. The matte lipsticks are more drying, however.
