Hey fellas , I have these shoes I have seen them here and there many of the Rock-A-Billy aficionados call mousetraps or snapjacks.
Up until about 3 years ago they were deadstock and I do see them as Repros sometimes by Japanese co.s and a couple of English co's.c make them but never with 'THE mechanism"
Wanted to share some pics , and if anyone has some they want to sell let me know. I know they made them in blue suede and white buck with different soles too.

I'm very glad that "Shu-Lok fasteners can be easily replaced without charge by your shoe store."

Had a pair of these in 6th grade, would love another pair. What do you call them when doing a search, like on ebay?

Snapjacks

You can look under snapjacks thy come up about once or twice a year.
Good luck.
There are these repro shoe makers that offer similar 1950's styles.

I prefer re-mix they are a quality shoe.

www.remixvintageshoes.com/index3.html

www.violetpromotions.co.uk/

If you get to VLV soon enough there are some brits usually selling very good copies of the snapjack but without the mechanism.

Try wading through all the japanese websites they pop up from time to time from a company called "Jubilee"
You foot has to be under a size 10 though.

Snapjacks

None of those websites had the shoes, I guess I'll just have to start searching on a regular basis.
They were THE shoe to wear in 6th grade, with horseshoe taps and your 501's rolled under.
My favorite shoes of that era were my "Seatbelt" shoes. They had a small square point toe, moc stitch, a strap over the top with a 'seat belt' buckle mechanism. They looked and worked like a car seatbelt. The best part was the heel cushion inside, it was red tuck and roll. I had to take them off and pass them around when I got those, again in 6th grade. I got them at my local Thom McCan shoe store, good thing my Mom had a shoe fetish, allowed me to get some neat shoes other kids weren't allowed to wear. :)

The U.K. shoes do not have a welted construction .

That is why when given a choice I prefer originals or RE-MIX.

I have a pair of the diamond toe Violet Promotions ones in black and pink and they have the leather/eva composite sole w/ contrasting stitching but no goodyear welt.

Some weekender's like VLV or Green Bay there are 2-3 dealers ,Brits usually carrying nice repros of those shoes w/o Sho -loc though.

Nick who used to be a dealer offers some with welting, Simply Fantastic. He used to be in London and now has a shop in Cali.

There is another fella who offers some .I forget his name.

It's kinda weird . I have been a member off an on here with different names since it's inception but have only posted only recently because I have time.

Love those. I have seen a lot of those from Jubilee. I know a guy named Zac in LA had a lot of them deadstock from Jubilee. Maybe eighties or so.

For the most part I have noticed the LA Latinos, and the English, other europeans and Japanese are into that rock and roll 50s look. American Rockabillys seem to not get much farther than a gab or pendleton shirt or just a t-shirt and jeans. I love to see the guys who go a little deeper. The rockabilly girls seem to be pretty into a look a lot more.

Nah man, that's just a pic I found online!
I have a few snapjack repros, but they don't have the mousetrap mechanism, just a snap down tongue. Originals ALWAYS fetch big bucks.
