RARE! LIKELY UNWORN VINTAGE BARBOUR INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE TROUSERS
Tagged 36. Measurements:
NB: These have an elasticated waist for a snug fit. The measurements below should be doubled for waist size.
Waist: 18 (measured flat, with elastic expanded)
Waist: 16 (measured flat, with elastic relaxed)
Inseam: 30 (these trousers are short; they are intended for wear with boots)
Outseam: 40 (measured from top of waistband to hem)
Rise: 12
These are FANTASTIC--and extremely rare!
Made to be paired with Barbour's International jackets to produce a complete motorcycle suit, the International Suit Trousers are much, much rarer than International jackets.
These trousers were made from the same heavyweight waxed cotton that the International jackets were made from. Since the trousers would be subject to more wear than the jackets, they were reinforced with a second layer of this heavyweight cotton at all of their high-wear areas: The knees, the ankles at the front, and the seat and crotch--the latter because of the wear to which the trousers would be subject there while riding a motorcycle.
These are extremely sturdy trousers!
They are also extremely well-designed, with their form folowing their function. Intended to be worn as outerwear over your street trousers, the waist is elasticated to ensure a snug fit over them. To further ensure ease of putting them on and taking them off they do not have a regular fly, as it would be hard to wear them over another pair of trousers with the fly in the same location. Instead, they have a size zipper and a heavy-duty press-stud to make it easy for them to be put on and taken off over other trousers.
They feature an adjustable strap at the ankle so that they can be secured snugly over your motorcycle boots. They also feature a long gusset that extends 16" up the outside leg, allowing the trouser legs to expand so they can be easily put on and off over other trousers. These gussets can then be tightly secured shut for a snug fit using a series of heavy-duty straps that secure with heavy-duty brass studs.
The left-hand side features a side zipper that allows access to the pocket on your street trousers when you're wearing these over them.
All of the stress points at the zippers are reinforced, all of the snaps are Barbour's own branded heavy-duty brass snaps, and the zippers are heavy-duty YKK brass zippers.
They are lined in the same blue-red-and cream tartan cotton lining as the old-school International jackets. They feature a line of grommets at the rear waist to imporve their breathability.
These are very well designed trousers indeed!
They were, of course, Made in England.
This pair is almost certainly New and Unworn. They do have some minor surface dust from storage, but that's it. They're in absolutely excellent condition.
