Rara Avis - What rare WWII aircraft would you like to see flying?

Aside from ANYTHING found on the "when-is-it-going-to-be-completed, already?" Luftwaffe 1946 website, I think maybe a B-29.

Where are these?

I've always admired and would like to see fly again in person these Italian Macchi Racing Seaplanes from the 1920s and 1930s.

The B-29 "Doc", owned by The United States Aviation Museum, is currently undergoing
a complete restoration. The work is being done at the Boeing

Where are these?

The top one is the Macchi M.C.72 and the lower one is the M.C.39. Both were racing seaplanes built specifically to compete for the Schneider Trophy.

Boeing XB-15 perhaps?

Apols - I can't post pics from here at work.

Only one built, so qualifies as rare. Despite the 'X' designation it was converted into a transport and served throughout the war in the Carribean as a transport.

Whatever happened to the American entry into the 1929 race, the Mercury Racer?

The Broadway production of South Pacific I saw last year had a scaled-down TBD mockup as an onstage prop. I wondered why they chose it - it's hardly an icon of the war, at least for a set designer.

One of two TBDs ditched at Jaluit Atoll, 1942, still largely intact.

I was looking at a restored one the other day at the Point Cook air museum. More boat than plane. Fantastic!

It was sold for $1,500.00

Sadly the old XR-1A didn't survive the 1950s, after being used as a mockup, it was cut up and scrapped.
