I always think of these random questions, but never know where to post them and I've noticed that I'm not alone.
So I thought to start a thread specifically for those questions here in the powder room.
here's my random question of the day:

What precisely is the shade Chartreuse? Not sure I spelled that right. I know it's one of my favorite songs by Louis Jordan and I think it's green, but what shade?:D

Yes, I like this idea :)

Chartreuse is a brilliant yellow green, like so:

Hi Ladies. This isn't random, it's quite specific. Sorry to ask but I'm a ludite! I cannot, and I've tried about 10 times now, get any kind of picture to upload anywhere. I've joined MySpace and tried, but it's not working. It's definitely me that's not getting it, so could some kind soul out there give me a quick instruction so I can share photo stuff. I understand the bit about taking a digital photo of purchases, but I can neither upload them to the Lounge nor can I upload images I find on google. Help, pleeease!

To upload an image you find on google, right click on it, then highlight and copy the properties. Paste them into your post, surrounded by these tabs

To upload your own images, you have to load them into a photo hosting site first, like www.shutterfly.com or www.photobucket.com (I will usually save them onto my desktop first, and then upload them into the hosting site, following the prompts they give.)

Does this help any?

You don't need a host like photobucket to put photos on myspace. You can upload from your computer.

The only problems I can think of are that the photos might be too big, you can resize them if that's the case. Also, if you have them in some strange format that they can't accept, you would need to save as .jpg or .bmp.

Speaking of photos and random questions, am I the only vintage photo collector here?

If they are too big, Myspace directs you to a site where you can download a free program that will automatically resize your photos for you (if you don't have Photoshop or a similar program on your computer.)

I collect vintage photographs, on occasion. It makes me sad to see big boxes of forgotten photographs in antique shops, so I will sometimes pick up a few to take home.

Excellent ladies, thanks. It's getting late here now, so I'll try it tomorrow. There are a few pointers there that I think I've either been missing or doing backwards. Watch this space! Sleep tight.

I started collecting vintage wedding photos, but never displayed them.I may have to finish my collection one of these days.

Chartreuse!
How funny that we're all on the same page.
Thanks for the description ladies,I do love the name but wasn't sure I was identifying the color properly.

The vintage names of particular shades completely intrigues me,can you think of more names?

I usually see heather as a purplish-grey color; the plant actually is purple.

I think that it is an adjective meaning that the color has a purplish cast.

I think aubergine is a pretty shade of purple, and the name sounds rather exotic too :)

The colour, heather, is a greyish-purple, but there is also a heather weave that can come in any colour.

Heather
A yarn that is spun using pre-dyed fibers. These fibers are blended together to give a particular look. (For example, black and white may be blended together to create a grey heathered yarn.) The term, heather, may also be used to describe the fabric made from heathered yarns.

Perhaps it was the weave they were refering to and not the colour. :)
