So great! I love the ribbon work!

Fantastic looking lid, I hope you get lots of great wear out of it Phil!
Quite the transformation. It should be good for another few decades.
What a tremendous job, Randall!
Oh wow—that’s beautiful work! Well done, Randall and congrats Phil.
Thank you all for the comments on this hat! And thank you once again, Randall, for a beauty of a hat and your friendship! And sorry (not sorry) about The Tide rolling over them dawgs! That bit of crimson accent in the bow keep will forever remind me of that game. ;)

Got myself a real genuine Triple R custom re-creation. Very happy with how this turned out. @Randall Renshaw saved this hat from, yet, another year buried deep in a closet. I’ll show this 70’s(?) Stetson western in it’s original state followed by Randall’s work.

My new sweatbands are in and they look awesome!! Very cool to see your own logo design stamped in gold on some fine looking sweats! Much better leather than the ones I was using.

I just bought a new sewing machine last night to replace the new heavy duty sewing machine, that arrived broke down, I bought recently.
So I’m waiting on the newest HD machine to be shipped out. Then I can finish a few custom hats, re-creations and restorations that folks are waiting on—plus sew two rows of decorative gold stitching on the top edge of these new sweats.
Also got the shipment of various colored hat liners that I have to stamp myself with gold ink and stamp pad that I bought, but I’m still waiting on the custom rubber stamp I had made.
And then a pic of my new homemade rounding Jack of my own design to cut brim edges to size. Works great!
I feel so official all of a sudden! :) View attachment 560385 View attachment 560388 View attachment 560386 View attachment 560387

A Christmas present to myself— a @Randall Renshaw recreation using a donor Stetson St Regis felt, vintage ribbon and a very comfortable RRR sweatband. A nice way to close out the year—thanks Randall!

Looks great, David! @Randall Renshaw is in possession of one of my beat up and dirty St. Regis felts awaiting re-creation. Thank you for posting and sharing inspiration.

Pretty amazing transformation, David. It's hard to tell the hat was anything different!
Thanks, Randy! It did turn out great and was a fun process—I told Randall I wanted a grey hat and he showed me pictures of about six vintage felt bodies he had to choose from. Then photos of the vintage ribbons he had he thought would go well with it. And there you go—a custom vintage hat. ;)

This Stetson Nutria Quality hat is a favorite, but I rarely wore it because the sweatband had dry rot and was on its last legs. I had Randall clean it up a bit and put in one of his excellent sweatbands. He kept the roundel and the store’s stamp. It came out perfect (he also bumped it up a bit in size without losing any crown height or brim width…sorcery!). Randall really has the touch and can do some amazing things with hats.

That did turn out well! I like the way he salvaged the labeling from the sweatband. Other means I have seen sometimes look like an attempt to fake the new sweatband as an original. This way, you've still got the heritage of the hat included, in a tasteful way that doesn't imply fraud.

You’re a pleasure to work for and I hope the future Sunrise nutria custom turns out as nice as this one did.
