Not what one would expect from a $2000+ suit but the label is sewn in well.
I am awefully sorry about the horrible photos.

What one is paying for is the cachet of the label - and the mystique of the shirred back, the green tweed with purple overpane, and other things nobody else is doing these days.

In fact I think a suit like this out-statuses a bespoke suit in today's fashionable society. Custom suitmakers are associated with tired old gents and limited styles and colors. True or not, I would think no custom tailor could source cloth like that at any price. It's likely exclusive with Lauren.

The lack of button-to-the-middle capability, the shorter-rise, narrow-peg pants, and the mismatch of peak and notched lapels make it a "designer" item rather than a 1930s copy. This will impress those who are impressed by such things, mostly store buyers.

Then, also, there's the knowledge that one paid more than it likely would have cost to have it done bespoke. To some, this is a real desire, altho I'll never understand it.

When I search for trousers (usually at thrift stores), I look for two brands: pre-Y2K Polo and J. Crew. Why? Aside from the cut, these two brands offer a very wide (yet classic) variety of fabrics and tones. No other brands have such an array of cotton, linen, and wool.

I have quite a bit of clothing from RL. Most of it is made well. This is the first suit I have bought from that company. I knew that there would be issues with it but I really like the material, color and pattern. I like that I can combine all three elements with other clothing.
I do not have a standard body size and it is difficult to get anything off the rack. The look of this suit got the better of me and I will enjoy it. I have many hats that will go perfectly with the colors of the suit.

My everyday trousers are all Bills. They are the the only company that has the high waisted cut I enjoy.

I have to second that recommendation for Holland & Sherry. Some of my favourite suits and jackets were made from their fabrics. My old tailor used to call me when they came for their annual visits so I could buy at reduced rates, or given my size, buy the ends of bolts that had 3 1/2" yards or slightly less that could not be used for other customers.

They are a bit too close for my taste. I have large thighs so even loose pants fit me snug. The taper to the cuff dosn't bother me so much as I have fairly short legs.

Oxxford has an end bolt program where they offer substantial reductions off their standard MTM prices, one flat fee regardless of the price of the material. Oxxford caries a lot of H&S as they are in the same stable of companies controlled by IAG. AFAIK, this program is available only at their flagship store (NYC) and SFA(Chicago-Mich.Ave.).

I've always had good fits from Ralph Lauren. I just got a nice tweed jacket that fits great. I'm tempted to take the measurements from it and supply them to Indy Magnoli, to rebuild the suit they made for me that was WILDLY ill fitting.

The waist is still too low though they are getting wider.
How much of this low-waisted, tight-thigh'd look is driven by what men will actually wear, vs how much of it comes from fashionista peer pressure on the designers to follow some imaginary male ideal? Inquiring minds wanna know...
