I visited the Ft Eustis museum again
this weekend. Their new train pavilian is nice and there are lots of railroad displays throughout the museum.

Any chance you took photos? I'm sure I'm not the only here who'd love to see them!
I've only ever been there once and that was for a WW2 re-enactment in the mid-90s. It killed me to go past that museum twice and not being able to go inside (I was riding with a group all the way from Atlanta).
Someday I wanna get back there to get some shots...

While reading a history of the 746th ROB I came across a single paragraph referencing the dispatching of men to Philadelphia early August 1944 to operate the buses, trolleys etc of the Philadelphia Transportation Company during the "Philadelphia Transit Strike" of 1944. Image searches revealed an unidentified Infantry/National Guard unit show in the below link:


These guys were heavily armed and dressed in full field gear in all of the photographs. Up to and including a BAR. Any ideas on the unit? But this picture from the AP shows what looks to be two ROB soldiers with the Army Service Corps patch along with a soldier of the mystery unit.

An interesting period of history. The "Strike" was short lived, partially do to Federal involvement and partially do to no official Union Support. Here's an article on the strike:

Some of those. Also I found a wire photo on eBay where the shoulder insignia could be seen but not to clearly. And thanks a bunch for the unit answer AND the story to go with it. Excellent stuff.
