One of my favourite old time radio programmes is It's Higgin's, Sir! first broadcast in 1951 to temporarily replace The Bob Hope Show. It only lasted for 13 episodes but it was wonderful, starring Harry McNaughton, Vinton Hayworth, Peggy Allenby, Charles Nevil, Pat Hosley, and Denise Alexander.
An English butler, Higgins ("not Mr. Higgins, it’s Higgins, Sir!") joins an American family, the Robertsons, with chaos and culture clash abounding. Higgins was bequeathed (along with silver the he’s polished all his life) to a typical American family. Head of the Robertson household explains to his wife, "He’s not a really a man, he’s an Englishman!"
