Rabbit rash

I have a Dobbs rabbit that now has a rough rash like spot in the center crease after a light rain.

Won't brush out, what else might smooth it out?

Tried, but in a pic it just shows up as a darker spot.

Basically the nap is raised in an irregular pattern that looks like a rash.

I got similar spots on a wool Stetson, and so far haven't found anything that'll fix it. My spots were caused by the same thing...rain.

Are you brushing it correctly? The top of a fedora can be tricky. Even if does appear darker in a photo, posting it here cant hurt.

My Akubra Federation did the same thing.
My solution was to wet the entire hat so the color would be the same all over.
I just sprayed mine till it was wet but not soaked. I then 'rubbed' the felt all over till all the hat was wet.
I let dry and the hat was not as 'brown' and now has a olive/green tint to it.

Sand it with 300 grit and then 600 grit sandpaper. Pouncing is what takes the hat from a wooly finish to a smooth finish during manufacture.
I have cleaned off spots and repaired "furballs" in the felt using the sanding method. I'm sure it is not to be used willy-nilly or too frequently but it has worked for me many times.
