Well - according to "Ten Fighter Boys" Allen got his nickname "Dizzy" because of his behaviour, which was "fun, games and schoolboy pranks"

Well Soren, you'll have to forgive me because this is from memory! I thought Dizzy got his nickname for spinning his aircraft far too long......... I don't know if this is right and now I can't find where I read it Apologies.
I haven't read Ten Fighter Boys - is that the one printed during WW2?

Donald Stone was billeted with a family and grabbed a book from the house to read whilst waiting at dispersal etc. Unfortunately for him, it was a schoolchild's book called 'Dimsie goes to school' or something similar, and when his fellow pilots saw it the name inevitably stuck.

Maybe somebody can clarify on Dizzy for me (that means you Tim.......)

"10 Fighter Boys" is indeed the book published during WWII. It's a great read with very peronal stories from Battle of Britain and the time during the Blitz.
Written by 10 pilots. I can highly recommend it.
