Quick hat pics, via Photo Booth

Just wanted to share pics of *both* my hats - realized when I posted shots from my loft that I'd shared my Federation, but not my Panama...so, here they are, taken via Apple Photo Booth and the built-in iSight camera on my MacBook Pro:

My Christy's Panama, which I've recently re-shaped. When I got it, it had a very deep center dent and two small dents far back from the front. I've reshaped it with a taller crown, shallower dent (fits better on my head that way) and more of a front pinch. Never realized it, but it has a bit of an unintentional "Raiders of the Lost Ark" turn thing going on with the brim, which I don't mind - gives it a little character. Forgive my somewhat goofy lookin' self in the pics:

Next, my Akubra Federation, in Mid-Brown. It's got a shallow center dent and a front pinch that's vaguely "Last Crusade"-ish, but not an attempt at a replica:

It sure looks like you did a top notch job reshaping those hats. One of these days I'll have to give it a try on a "real" hat. A few weeks ago my sacrificial hat was made with some disagreeable material. It was looked like oiled canvas with a thin foam backing. I think the foam backing doomed me.

Overall the hat had a nice shape, but it must have gotten stubborn creases from being crunched under something in storage. I bought it for next-to-nothing in a surplus army store.

I tried steaming it and shaping it with a cup. I read about using a cup to help shape a hat, and that's about all I had as we were on vacation in a cottage. It was the hat, a tea kettle, a tea cup and me. The krinkled hat won... lol
