You could certainly size down for a trimmer fit but these aren’t the type of thing you wear with just a t shirt. Room for some degree of layers is essential!

I’m 5’11 205lbs and I “think” mine are a 42”. Your jacket looks superb! What’s the issue?
I think this is more accurate dress.

If you don't mind me asking, what are your stats? If uncomfortable with that it is okay.
5'9", 36" chest, 30" waist, 140lb
I'm normally stone-cold size 36, so the USN stuff must run large! I've only got one other 34 and that's an Aero Barnstormer, which is a jacket usually worn as an overcoat but I wanted to wear it just with a jumper so I sized down.

If that is a 38, you need a 34. I probably have a 34 lying around somewhere. Might even be a Kersey.

I going to merge this with the main peacoat thread.
I certainly may be interested. I'm slightly athletically built, don't know if that makes a difference.

Thanks. Damn it sucks, it's in such great condition. Dont know if I can find such a specimen in 34/36.

You will find one. These jackets are plentiful on E-bay. Some ask a lot, some less so. I have found great scores with low asking prices. wait a few weeks and you will find on.
I have purchased at least 3 jackets that don't fit me. They are close. It takes a few iterations I am afraid. For example a 36 in a WWII would be way to big on me for a post 1949 when the style changed to six button.

There are some beautiful 34's on ebay right now. Just search "US Navy Vintage Peacoat 34". A lot of them are nicely priced too.

Please do let me know if you happen to have a 34 around.
I would suggest looking at WWII eight button versions. You are lean. The early jackets are much better fitted to this form. You may fit into a 36. Everything after 1950, 6 button, are boxy. My opinion

Nice. Here is a pic of the Kersey. I wish we could have these jackets side by side. This one is very nice but too big for me.
What size is this one? If it’s 40S or 40R would you consider selling it?
