Question for Lost Worlds J-23/J-24 size 46 and 48 owners

I’m in process of getting one of these, and I’d like to know how the measurements change from size 48 to 46. So if you you have one of these beauties in these sizes, I’d like to know pit to pit and shoulder measurements. If you have standard length, also back and sleeve measurements are of interest.

Stuart says with my measurements I am size 48, which is without a doubt true, but as I have currently 46” chest and I’m still losing weight, I’d like to figure out how far I am from fitting to size 46.

That's right, you need go one size up with J23, if you plan to wear thick sweater and hoodie go 2 size up.

I will measure my 46S soon, but HH is definitely right. My 46 J23 is more snug than my 44 CHP.

Bill kelso offers this pattern, i know it cant compare to l.w., there page where you pick a vintage jacket to be made is cool, they have a huge selection, regius is getting a ralph pughs built by them right now, should be interesting. I just dont want the thin leather they offer, liberty hh. L.w. reigns imho the construction, leather, materials everything is built like a fortress, amazing. some of the jackets i have seen makes me feel like im getting ripped off compared to what lost worlds offers/builds.

I am very excited about the Trojan. I threw out a good offer, then thought, just buy it before a TFL member who knows what’s what snags it lol.

I agree about LW jackets. I love my other jackets, like the Pegasus for example. It has its role in my wardrobe and is a great jacket. But imo there is nothing quite like a LW. For those that love the precision of Japanese makers or Himel, LW is that skilled a builder/artist, but working on a more difficult medium—crazy thick and heavy leather. Amazing. Though I think the vtg Cals and most Vanson can compete with the feeling of indestructibility. This partly is why they are my 3 favorite brands.

Vanson competition weight cowhide is very good, but soften very quickly and the finish is easy to rub off.

I didn't size up on my J-23, it's a size 42L.
According to Stuart i would also be a 42 in CHP and Leathertogs, he also says there is 2" circumference difference between sizes.

My 42 is 22.5 pit to pit. If you follow the 2" up logic, I woud guess that a 44 is 23.5", a 46 24.5" and a 48 25.5".
When i ordered my 42L (length of a 44 +0.5") Stuart didn't have a problem telling me the shoulders of the 42 would be 0.5" smaller on each side than the 44 i had tried and thus i needed longer arms to compensate.

You probably are best at a size 48. I am a 44 / 46 and have 2 size 46 J-23's and 1 size 44 J-24. The 46 fits best as the 44 is cut slim from the chest to the waist. I would imagine you would enjoy wearing the 48 a lot more unless you prefer not zipping up your jackets. Sleeve length can be ordered however you need it.

I wore a 42 at the time I purchased a Lost World's J23.
One size up- 44 fit perfectly.

Not all Japanese leather jackets are built with thin leather. My horsehide Rainbow Country single rider is just as thick as my Langlitz if not a bit thicker and just as thick as my steer, LW leather jean jacket was. The RC is my heaviest jacket.

Good point. Plus, not all LW is 4.0+ thick. All dabble in different leathers.

I was quite surprised how thick and heavy it was when it showed up. I was not expecting that but am happy it was more robust than I thought it would be.

I also own a Rainbow Country belt and that thing could tow a car out of a ditch. It is the thickest belt I have ever owned.

I'd love to own another LW jacket again.

But seriously, three things have kept me from Japanese brands, even though I drool over some of the stuff I see here. Pricing, sizing, and my cluelessness on yahoo auctions, etc. Though I see RC pop up on eBay from time to time.

I am interested to know what's the weight of your RC jacket since you mentioned it's heavy. I can't remember how many times the seller on ebay claims the jacket he sell is heavyweight, after asked him the weight of the jacket the answer I got is usually between 4-5 lbs.

JMax/Hh121, I don't want to hijack Jejupe's thread so I'll PM you. I am guessing it is around a 3 - 3.5oz leather. Around the same weight and thickness as my Langlitz Timberline. It is not any thicker than the Langlitz now that I compare both in front of me. The wool lining on the RC adds a bit of weight I'd think.

As it happens I bought a pre-loved Leather togs size 44 from a fellow lounger hoping that I might fit in it one day. Received it today and found out I can actually fit in it pretty well already!

It’s still quite snug for me but zips all the way up without much violence. I wish I could still use Tapatalk to post you a fit pic. One of these days I Need to figure out another way to post pics.
