Question about this unknown vintage A2

Does anyone have any idea on this A2? Seems untagged and doesn't otherwise directly indicate origin.

This is certainly not an A-2. I don't think any A-2 would have any shearing at all.

Looks to be like a civilian flight jacket, not sure about the year though. At least you know it was made in the US.

Sorry, Leafandarrow - as Justhandguns states, it is not an A2. A2's didn't have collars like that - nor hand warmer pockets; it's a civilian copy of a US Navy G-1.

Shucks. So we've established civilian origin. Still no clue on maker? I know every leather co in the world makes civi flight jackets, but not all of those companies are created equal.

This is one similar jacket with Serval zipper on Ebay right now. Not sure it's from the same maker judging by the different tags. But it says 50s'.

It looks like a classic Schott G-1/A-2 style to me.

I had a very similar one back in the 80s - the exact same back and arm construction, the same dual pockets, the same brown snaps in the same places, the same knits, and it looks like it's made of the same brown naked cowhide. The only difference was that on mine, the lining was WHITE acrylic pile instead of brown.

No, it's not a copy, you're right - I used the term "copy" in its loosest terms. I stand corrected - as said the man in orthopaedic shoes.
It's a civilian version of a military jacket with aspects mostly of a G-1 to a greater extent, with an A2 to a lesser extent.
