Question about the Raiders brim

I have four Fed IV hats and while they get a lot of wear, I am not trying to be Indiana Jones.

While I fail to understand some people's need to exactly replicate a film character's hat, if that was my intent I would also just spring for a Penman.

P.S. Besides his Indy hats, John can make any fedora you want!

Yeah, interestingly enough, because my Fed 4 is in moonstone, even though I put a pretty much bang on Raiders bash in it, including the turn, people tell me it makes me look like a Mafia boss.

I just think the grey colour looks really smart, and goes extremely well with a good shirt and tie, but people here see it and immediately think "Godfather". It's weird.

Ha ! that's the public for you, if it's brown you're Indy, if it's black you're jewish orthadox or Amish & if it's grey, you're a gangster.
You have to realize too that 99.9% of people haven't a clue what a ' Raider's bash' is, so such details won't enter into their uninformed judgements.
Most people only have vague memories of movies or characters & therefore, anyone who vaguely fits their 'impression' of a film character, will be labelled as such.

IMHO, there should be dead air space between the inside of the crown & the top of your noggin. The part of the hat that should touch your body is the leather sweatband.
Sure when the wind kicks up or the horse you rode in on does, screwing it down tight may make other parts touch but those are exceptions not the rule.

I have yet to find a hat that does NOT touch the top of my head! Even my Campdraft with a minimal center bash still touches the top of my noggin. I guess I've just got a high dome head.

Same, although the Campdraft is actually ever so slightly off my head depending on how I bash it.
