I love that undyed leather. Wear it in good health and let the sun and elements do the rest!
It is a lovely jacket, compliments to you. Feraud comments about loving the undyed leather and that prompts a question, for you or for anyone in the know. The hide of the animal, be it bovine, equine or cervinae is not that colour, or more precisely, lack of colour. Is the process of the tanning the reason that the hide's colour is lost?

Many years ago I had a shirt, a military style shirt, in that same undyed look. That shirt was made from the hide of the chamois, it was very soft and supple, it was partially lined, where the buttons and button holes needed to be. Being chamois, it washed quite easily, so stains and spillages were never a problem. Chamois leather is used in cleaning, popular with car washing, I remember that those squares were like your jacket and my shirt, devoid of colour. Which brings me back to my question, does the tanning process cause the loss of the hides colour?

Your photo looks fantastic, well worth the time being locked down. Did the one that was on sale here a while back inspire you? https://www.thefedoralounge.com/thr...pus-jacket-raw-unlined-excellent-shape.95723/

If your kids end up tagging it with Sharpie or getting frosting on it at a party, you can always go for the “Indigo Dunk” here in LA. I remember someone doing this with a Campus jacket, and it looked great.

Yes the tanning process creates that natural color we see on JCSD's jacket. I've done some leather-work projects and that un-dyed neutral color is what you receive from suppliers, unless you purchase leather specifically dyed.
You can see examples here-

I’ve noticed my two toddlers staring at me with devilish grins so I’m resigned to the fact that they’ll most likely be the source of my first few stains.

You could always make a feature of it, in yewars to come - "Hey, kids - remember when you made this stain?" at appropriate times. Like when they introduce a new partner to the family over dinner and such... ;)

I'm reminded of a guy I saw in the supermarket one Summer; at the top of one of his arms he had a tattoo that was clearly an inking of a child's drawing, presumably one of his own kids. Raised a smile from me, anyhow.

John’s post definitely pushed me hard into this direction.

I was wondering whether tea dyeing would work on leather. It works on natural textiles to great effect, varying from light tan to chocoloatey brown, depending on tea concentration, temperature and duration of bath. But it generally requires really hot water. I'd stick with sun, rain and wear for natural leather.

That's a great fit JCSD. I find them confronting to look at when new, but they sure look pretty when messed up and worn.
