Puckering on leather jacket from water?

Against my better judgement (again) I used a damp cloth, per a friend's recommendation, to dry and remove a few marks on the back of my pebble grained jacket. I guess the cloth was too damp, because the areas that I rubbed have seemingly stretched out, and the pebble has smoothed flatter. In the places that stretched out, I have puckering spots down the back. Any ideas for how to deal with this? I was thinking about lightly wetting the area, and then letting it hang dry...

Like a bunch of others here, I wash my leather jackets in the washing machine. Never makes them look any different, only a bit more flexible. The leather has to be pretty fragile to be knocked about by water.

Yeah, considering guys here have stood under a hot shower wearing their jackets with no significant effect, your damp cloth points to the leather being the issue.

If that damaged your jacket, it's time to move up the food chain. This is the place to guide you in the right direction.

I understand my Jacket is not an aero or even schott for that matter, but I still paid $1k for it...off of $2500, and i had hoped that the the quality would at least be comparable. Fashion jackets continue to disappoint. I think you guys are right since my other jackets handle water much better. Considering the cost I sunk into it though..I don't suppose there might be a fix?

Maybe post some pictures to show the issue? Then we should be able to offer some advice/possible fixes.

Yeah, for $1000 I'd be looking for some better water resistance than that.

I would also like to see pics. It is hard to recommend a fix becvause whatever we say it might make it worse.

It sounds to me like you really rubbed it tho....and if the leather is thin then it might have been stretched out.

This is not an advice, but I would personally wet a towel with warm tapwater and lay the jacket down, then just put the towel on and pat until its wet and warm...then removw towel and try and correct the problem fast while the jacket is warm.....just try to pat it out and get it as smooth as possible....then let it dry like that completely. However, since the leather sounds fragile one has no idea what this will do to it, maybe it gets worse?......just what I would have done if it was unwearable then its already ruined.

Think you may be right..sounds like the pebbled finish that we'd normally associate with goatskin may well be an artificial finish to some lambskin , which has
been smoothed out by the wetting.

Never seen goatskin loosing it's grain with application of a damp cloth though ?

Hate to say what is now obvious but D&G are a fashion brand, you aren't paying for quality or durability, just the name. I'd hate to think of how many suckers out there paid full price for that jacket and think they bought a quality item.....whats the saying about more money than sense?

A mate of mine was raving about a McLaren branded jacket he almost bought for £1500!! sure its an ok looking Cafe Racer style, but that much for a lambskin jacket!! Managed to talk him out of that one.
