Looks pretty good - they looked at pix of Dillinger at style Depp anyway.

But couldn't they have found just ONE more early 30s car?
Dillinger died in 1934, and that's a very bad year to fudge the cars. '35 was when the fastbacks and rounded curves started coming in - the whole shape of a car changed. And here you see a '36 Chevy.

The '34 LaSalle, however, was a Harley Earl design and right up to the minute.

I have had my 1931 Ford rented for five movies now. At one of the shoots, I was told that if anyone asked, tell them it was a '27 Model T.

So much for screen accuracy.

New guy here and first post. Watching the trailer it appears Dillinger and Purvis come face to face while JD is in a cell:If I recall correctly Purvis never laid eyes on Dillinger until he came out of the Biograph...Also it sounds as though Dillinger refers to Purvis as "the man who killed Pretty Boy Floyd" which happened after Dillinger's death. Maybe that's just trailer editing...
Still the film looks very watchable...

Very excited about this movie. Johnny Depp was apparently so close to Dillinger's size he could wear his clothes. That and the fact he's one of the best actors of his generation gives me high hopes.

Mann's a very "gunny" director as well (meaning he knows his weapons), so we should see lots of action.

Woo hoo!

Not having drums on those Tommy's is killing me...even though I know the 20 round sticks are easier to deal with....:)

The clothes look really good, as far as what I've seen....I like this poster...

I had the chance to fire a full auto Tommy Gun when I worked for the FBI a while back. With the round magazine I felt just like a gangster, though I was actually aiming and not "praying and spraying" as the saying goes...:D

I was an extra in this movie. The wardrobe and sets were to die for. Every single extra had full hair, makeup, and wardrobe, down to the antique shoes. One shoot day they gave me a wet-look marcel wave that took two hours to do, for a night shoot! They even painted our nails a period-appropriate color. Such expense for "background!" See it just for the "look."

That outfit looks like it cost $5,000.

The real Dillinger would have been happier with an outfit that cost $50.

Of course making that outfit today would cost at least $5,000, and the producers wouldn't like it.

Solid vest

I notice in the poster that old Johnny is wearing a striped suit but the vest is a solid color.

I guess the striped vest wouldn't stop bullets like the one he has on (note the fillet in the "V" at the top).

You're right: the attention to costuming detail on this movie was extraordinary. However ...

A friend of mine was an assistant cameraman there. She told me about an outdoor crowd scene where supporting actors and extras were caught unawares in the "rain" -- without umbrellas. Many of the female actors/extras were given vintage 1930s shoes --some in excellent condition-- to wear in the scene. Needless to say, the water ruined most of those shoes. :(

I get to shoot an M1A1 FA quite regularly at the WW2 museum where I volunteer...man, that thing is sweet, and does it ever rock-and-roll...it runs rings around my M1A1 semi!:D

I had read somewhere that the costuming for The Road To Perdition was, up to that time, the most researched and most expensive to reproduce...I wonder how this movie fairs in comparison?

I'm a confessed overcoat junky...I'd love to get my hands on the one JD is wearing in that poster!:D

Yes, I'm afraid shoes WERE harmed during the making of this film.
