Hey there,
this is my first post and I'm from Germany so please bear with me.
I always wanted the shoes Johnny Depp wore in Public Enemies. I almost lost hope until I saw this costume:
http://www.propstore.com/product-Clements--US-Costume-001.htm

Those are pretty much exactly the shoes Johnny Depp wore but unfortunately in distressed condition. If anyone of you guys know where to get such shoes, please tell me.
Thanks
Nick

P.S. Another picture of the shoes in PE: http://youbentmywookie.com/wookie/g...lic-enemies/johnny_depp-public_enemies024.JPG

1.) Welcome to the Lounge!

2.) You may get some more traffic in the "General Attire" forum.

3.) Indy Magnoli can replicate just about any vintage design if you provide him with pictures. He does great work, from what I've heard. I have some bespoke dress slacks from him coming in soon. His prices are very reasonable, too.

Cheers,

Thanks for the fast answer. I will post this thread in the other categorie too. I also looked at the Indy Magnoli website but I only wanted to spend around 150$ and not 375$. Still, thanks for the link.

The shoes Depp wore were the 1930s/40s spade sole shoes. They look like these:

They occasionally come up on eBay and the alternative would be to get someone to makeup a copy pair.

Thanks for all your replies. If the links don't work, can I upload the pictures? If not, you could go on www.propstore.com and look for the costume "Clements' US Costume 001 in the category Pacific, The (2010 Television Series)
Thanks again
Nick

Thanks for the links, but if you look at the pictures, you'll notice that the ones I am looking for a longer, slender and more pointy. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Nick

I sincerely doubt that any modern shoe Co. is making the type of shoe that you want, you will have to go vintage or bespoke.

As an aside, shoes don't come much longer, slender-er, or pointier than Stacy Adams...

The ruins of the golden era.
While it is hard to tell from the picture, his shoes look like standard oxfords to me. It seems that any brown oxford shoes would suffice.

I bought the Madison boot and the shoe is narrow compared to my Allen Edmonds.

Cookie is right. Depp's shoes have what's called a spade sole. Look at the picture below--see how the sole sticks out farther than usual around the front, and then cuts in a a sharp angle at the ball of the foot? That's a spade sole.

Shoe makers virtually stopped producing these in the '50s, maybe earlier. The only shoes still being made with this type of sole today are cowboy boots, so you'd have to have a pair of shoes custom made if you wanted that detail.

Magnoli Clothiers do special orders; they might be able to do a spade sole for you. It'd be around $375, which is the best price you're likely to find without visiting Asia yourself. Send the photo below to Magnoli and ask if they could do it in a brown calf leather.
