Does anyone own one of these? I'm hoping to nab a good deal on eBay. I especially like the ones with the fur collars. Which decade were they more prelevant?

Princess seams made their debut in the victorian era, which really allowed the silhouette of the era to be as extreme as it was. Princess coats were made to go with these dresses. Otherwise, princess coats were quite popular in the '60s (they matched well with the numerous princess-seames shifts) and up through the '80s victorian revival. They did exist earlier, as shown here. They're generally used with more tailored, slimmer looks, which was why swing coats were so big in the 50s...you needed the room for all those petticoats!

They are so lovely and feminine, sigh.
