Pre-War Aero Pictures

Guys and gals, I just picked up this beautiful pre-war Aero 16160 Contract. These are fairly rare jackets in the sense that they rarely show up for sale. This one is in good condition, the horsehide is very nice and has no flaws, original waistband in very good condition about 90% with only a couple of nips. Now, someone removed the cuffs and there is a bit of loose stitching around the pockets. The lining is good with the exception of a rip at the top that someone decided to make a homemade repair to. All the hardware is there including the triple marked Talon. Now, the zipper must have been broken at the end as someone chopped off the last inch or so and put a generic stopper.

I will be sending this to Eastman for repairs and hopefully it will be another one that I will be wearing this fall. Not a bad jacket for less than GBP 200.

Take a look.

Very nice Steve, good grab.

Is that right pocket a bit larger than the left or is it just the shot? Sort of like what's seen on some of the jackets in the photos on the USS Hornet before the raid?
How long does it take Eastman to turn around repairs on a jacket like this one?

Enjoy it.

Talk to Gary Eastman for pricing, but the last time I had a repair done it really wasn't that expensive and the important thing is that the work was done perfectly. You won't get a shoddy job with them like you will with other not so experienced repair shops. These guys will use the original stitch holes and in my opinion have the best knits available. Aero knits are wrong, they are double weave not single like they should be and they look wrong. The Japanese makers knits are just crazy long that it's not even funny. Trust ELC, they will do a fantastic job.

I just sent off the jacket for repair this morning. I will let you know the detailed pricing as soon as I hear from Gary Eastman.

Hi Steve,

You have got me curious about double and single weave knits.

I have just compared an Eastman Werber to an Aero A2, apart from the colour and that the Werber knits are softer, I see no difference.

Would it be possible expand on this or even show a picture?

Thanks

James

Steve,
Very nice jacket and a rare bird at that. I just got a GW 16160 and comparing your pictures to the jacket I have I have to say John hit the mark again on this jacket. All in all we are both very lucky guys though I think you are a bit luckier with the original.:)

Thanks, I hope to have it back in about 4 weeks as ELC had just started their busy season and I think I got it in just in time. It is a rare bird and I was extremely lucky to find on and one in my size was even luckier. I did buy it to wear, so the repair work is being done so I can actually wear it. All my originals are wearers even the patched ones I just don't wear them as much as I really don't feel comfortable wearing others decorations and name tags. I will post pictures when it gets back.
