Gorgious Stetson Bob!!
Gorgious Stetson Bob!!
Tremendous hat.
That’s what I was thinking. Very unusual especially for something in this period. It’s similar to the swanky stuff you start seeing in the 1960s.Nice one Bob. You ever see that sorta print/texture embossed in a liner before? Very cool
There's something about these old hats that's just so attractive. A beauty!
Gorgious Stetson Bob!!
Yeah, that liner embossing is the first time I have seen that, and I really like a long hair fedora.
Thanks for sharing!
Tremendous hat.
Thanks Ross. I don’t recall seeing a liner like this before.
Wow, that’s a beauty -- love that liner. Nice find Bob!

Couldn’t get the pics to load, but if anyone’s ever had/has it, it’d be Justin!
A hat friend texted me with photos sent to him by the owner of the hat below, my friend asking my help to date it. I'm posting it because it's a nice early Stetson and I don't know if it will otherwise ever appear in public. It's a Stetson 4X Beaver and looks like it has a velour finish. I guesstimate it's from the first half of the 1930's or late 20's.
I have no idea, Bob, but possibly so. I wasn't told who actually owned the hat at the time. But if you thought you saw this hat, you probably did, because there can't be 2 of these for sale. All I know is the owner was said to be asking $350 for it. PS- My friend said this morning that they were outbid on that hat, so that sounds like maybe Goodwill.Nice! Didn’t that just sell on Goodwill?

Maybe you were or are now. I have no idea who owns/owned it.That’s strange, I thought I was the owner of that hat.
Wonderful! Frankly, I was hoping that eventually somehow I would end up with it, but I'm glad one of our Lounge brothers was able to grab it!XXXX Beaver I picked this up over on Goodwill and like Mike I figured it should go on the board here. From the 4k Lot number + the sweatband and reorder tag it would appear early 20s.
With a $12 original price tag, it is definitely one of the softer and finer hats I have. The felt is soft, thin, and super easy to shape.
Nobody told me they had it. I've now figured out they also saw it on Goodwill and were planning to bid for it but wanted my advice about it's age. They didn't tell me it was a Goodwill auction hat, but gave me the impression they were dealing with a private owner.. I know now they did bid on it, but you outbid them. I had told them to pay whatever it took to get it. Anyway, I agree on the age. Now that I see the Lot Number, I put it about 1920, give or take.Don’t buy it from who ever said they had it…I got it off Goodwill and it just arrived this afternoon. I’m guessing there are not two out there…
