I wish I had caught this thread two years ago when it was active... I guess it is now. I've always coveted a Power Wagon. They were animals, and add a PTO to go anywhere and do anything. Something about the 60's vehicles that are gone forever; Power Wagons, real Land Rovers, Mustangs, any Chevy SS, XKE roadster with glass headlights, Barracuda, and on. The restored prices are obscene.

If you avoid the various fad vehicles, convertible and fastback Mustangs, GTOs and Grand Wagoneers, there are still some good buys out there. The trick is separating what you might want from the stuff that's pricey. I suspect that out in the sticks notch-back Mustangs, Torinos, Novas, and possibly even a Barracuda might be pretty affordable. I always wanted to drop a Hot Rod Aussie Six in a Dart.

Trucks are difficult because they tend to be bought for business purposes and thus "used up," there's also fewer reproduction parts around than there is for a popular car like a Camero or Mustang. The other problem is that while true vintage cars ('30s, '40s, '50s) were pretty comfortable for larger guys, the old trucks tend to be pretty cramped. Certainly not classic or vintage but a real deal in used sports cars are the 944 and 968 Porsches. They aren't cheap to work on but they are built like tanks, perform very well compared to modern cars, and are quite cheap to buy ... and may be due for appreciation. In today's care market where it's hard to find any kind of deal at all they (and possibly pre 1980s Volvos) stand out as one of the very few left.
