I'll admit that the majority of my posts occur in the PR. I do from time to time post outside but I like to chatter with the fabulous group of ladies here. I am not opposed to sub categories. I already think the beauty one is a great idea. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Dressing Room. There's my two cents.

I think a lot of ladies - myself included at times - could be a bit intimidated by posting outside of the PR.

Goodness knows a lot of the menfolk are very intimidated by the thought of posting in the PR! I know I never would… and certainly would never read it… excepting to wonder what the new forums are about. Yeah, excepting that! ;)

Yea! I'm very glad that some organizational changes are going to happen -- I've been advocating that privately and off-line for a while, and now I can publicly add my support.

I'd like to see more sub-category organization within the Powder Room. I think we need several sections -- Hair/Beauty, Clothes, Handmade, and maybe even Shoes. Some of the current threads should have been divided into smaller threads long ago but weren't b/c we wanted to keep all the info together. Similarly, many threads should be grouped together and won't be until there's more organization.

Please don't make too many changes too quickly. I'm surprised that there's changes being made mere hours after this thread started. Give people at least a full day or two to log in and have a chance to contribute!

Finally, I have to ask why the Ladies' topics are still down below in the Community group. Why aren't our topics being put up next to the guys' topics? I think that would help to encourage more collaboration.

Here, here. I was very surprised to see it happen so quickly.

Yeah, I made query to that as well. As for this thread, and the magical appearance of the Beauty forum, their trimming was purely coincidental. :)

I disagree, Snookie. I like the location. I think I'd get mixed up if PR stuff was up top. But maybe that's just me.

Whew, thanks for not thinking I was too negative. I'm really very glad that there's changes happening, I just wanted to contribute and ask a few questions.

As for our location down below, I understand the origins of the PR and why it was placed there, but it's time to shift. There might be some designation for new people as to which sections are male or female oriented, but our topics really belong up there. (Also, some of the above topics should go into Community -- possibly the Display Case and Steamer Trunk -- but that's another topic for another day! :) )

I agree with Snookie on the reorganization.

I think it would be fabulous to have separate sections designated male and female (almost like restrooms ).

And reorganizing the other topics on the 1st page would be all kinds of awesome!

I'd like to pipe up in favor of reorganization. I really feel the PR should be brought up from the community portion and integrated into the top forum index.

There really isn't anything I feel needs to be 'women only'... usually I care to hear the opinion of a man and I think there are many topics gents simply wouldn't be interested in anyway. If the goal is to integrate more, then by all means let's do it.

Which forums can a person see if they aren't a member? Alot of ladies found the FL by doing a search for "40's hair". If the PW is moved up top, would it still show up in searches so that new people can find our knowledge goodness?

Oops, I didn't mean restricting by gender, I just meant somehow labelling it so that new people weren't confused, although I'm sure it's self-evident for the most part. I was just imagining the poor soul, wanting info about the perfect Bogart Jacket for his wedding, and running away screaming because he thought all the topics were about pincurls and stockings! lol

Thats chosen by management. Beauty can be seen if you are not a member.

For the record, there are threads in the PR that will remain ladies only, lingerie threads being a prime example.

While men can see these threads, there are many PR ladies that do not feel comfortable having to deal with comments from men on 'delicate' topics.

This will continue to be the case and be enforced by PR bartenders, no matter where the Beauty and PR end up on the listings.
