Hello Ladies,

For those of us who have been here for a while, Im sure you have noticed the wave of new ladies (and gents) who have come through the doors. And I say a welcome to all. :)

With this population growth, the future of the PR is being discussed. This is becoming a very large forum, and talks about braking it up have surfaced.

One idea is to have a hair and make up forum, and one for clothing.

Now, these are JUST ideas, and NOTHING has been decided. For all we know the PR may stay the way it is (which is alright too), but we'd like to hear input for you gals.

Any ideas, thoughts, concerns?

Thanks,

LD

Technically speaking- we do already have hat, suit and general attire forums. If the PR is too large, couldn't we all just start directing our posts to there? Leave things of general "girly" discussion here? Makeup, hair tips, etc?

Whatever is decided is fine by me! :)

Where the posts are, I will follow ;)

I kinda like that it's all stashed away in one place, but I wouldn't be averse to having a "Dressing Room" for the ladies so long as we don't talk about high armholes ;)

When I first joined up, there weren't too many of us ladies that gave regular input to the PR. It was a small community and searching the archives was quite simple.
I am thrilled with the recent wave of wonderful gals that are joining us. The more we have, the more there is to learn. I like the idea that the PR is a "ladies only" area, where we can feel comfortable talking about our girlie things.

On that note, I wouldn't see a division of certain topics as a break up of the PR. I would see it as an expansion, like little cozy areas within a PR where girls can gab. I think the sentiment will still be there, but I think it would be much easier for us to search the archives if there were smaller sections to search through.

The entire Fedora Lounge is growing by leaps and bounds. Since about last June the number of new memberships has risen astronomically. When The Lounge first started out, it really was a "gentleman's club", of course us ladies were welcome, however there were more sections for men to discuss, and the majority of "ladies topics" were in just one area.
I think it's nice that the men have individual sections to discuss individual topics. Now that we ladies are really letting our presence be known, I think it would be great if we had a few more sections to discuss more precise topics.

In the end, we'll always have the Powder Room. But, we'll have a bigger more luxurious top of the line area that will be easier to navigate and manage. Let's face it, we all keep a lot of stuff in the PR, and with the rate we are going, it could get messy. No woman wants a messy PR! (HA, funny coming from me, the girl with 3 bathrooms that are all a mess, and still not enough space). Also, it will make it a lot easier for our new members to find what they are looking for, if things are broken down a bit, thus reducing duplicates and thread merging.

Cheers to you all! It seems like we ladies are making our presence known in The Lounge!:eusa_clap

If breaking things up a bit (having a sepperate area for hair and make-up)means it will be easier to search for and find a thread then I am all for that.

So we'd no longer have just our Powder Room, we'd have an entire vintage budoir all to ourselves?! I like the thought of that:D

My opinion is that here is a slight ambiguity with the powder room, certain subject which are very personal should be kept ladies only for sure and still made clear they are.
While others, men's opinion could count a lot like hair styles or makeup , men would NOT naturallycomment on the best lipstick with staying power to wear, but they may have a opinion if a shade suits a lady or not.
that could be the same for dress ,hat, shoes.

In my view that's where the ambiguity comes in men are too afraid to express there opinion in the PR purely because of the risk of upsetting the ladies but still could have valuable input and tend not to post.
As far as splitting up the PR or as I see it expanding it! That would be a good idea if it was done in a logical way, some subjects could fall into several categories, and the bartenders each having a different view on where it should go into resulting in a untidy board with a lot of moved topics.

I think sub categories would be great as long as all of the old posts can still come up in the search... Like if you do a search for "hair" that was in the powder room, will the thread still come up in the new category? Could get tricky? Or will the new categories be UNDER the powder room? Then again, sometimes these threads get to be 20 pages long or so, and I know that the average newbie isn't going to sit and flip thru each one... they'd rather start a new thread with their particular question.

Perhaps for now, we could add a link in the hair sticky that has a link to all searches for "hair", as some do not know how to do that. Same with some of the other popular topics?

Other than that I don't think the boards move too terribly fast and posts are generally easy to find. The Lounge is one of THE best, well organized message boards out there, I wish they were all this way! So, I'd be happy with whatever y'all decide!

I think it would be nice to have sub sections in here. As long as there are not too many sub sections because they could make it confusing to try and figure out what category it is you need to start a new post. lol

i think it makes alot of sense the way it is..
I dont think there are EVER that many post thati can not keep up, even if i have not been on in a few days...
i think it makes sense to keep everything girl related bundle in one place...
so.. if i am looking for something in specific, i might also find something i didnt know i wanted to read about.. and be very happy i foundit!

what ever, either way..

Interesting question, LD.

I like that everything is in one place, however as far as searching goes I guess it is easier when everything is broken out--like one for clothing, one for hair/make-up and one for just girl talk.

But I must say, that I always check into the powder room first and sometimes can go a while without checking out another forum because I guess I get so comfy on my little pink tuffet here in the Powder Room--and you ladies are such charming company.

Would it be possible to have sub categories WITHIN the Powder Room or would they become seperate external categories?

I personally like everything being under one click but can see the need to break things up, there are a LOT of posts and LOTS of info to look through.
