Pottersville

I don't know. I'm walking around Gotham tonight, and I was thinking this town is too small for me. I feel like George Bailey in Bedford Falls. What did George have against Pottersville? I actually think I'd be happy in Pottersville, a small town with non-stop liquor and carousing. If there's a real Pottersville out there, let me know.

Regards,

Senator Jack

Personally I take offense to the notion Pottersville could be better than Bedforfd Falls. I know alcohol and prostitutes are more easily accessable, though the ability to own housing at reasonable barrowing costs can sometimes outweigh the loss of the sinning options.

Merry Christmas you old building and loan!

Some people think there is just too much good in the world... perhaps, though I like it that way (mainly on weekends).

Ding Ding.....

Look at me I'm getting my wings.lol

When you go to Las Vegas next month, Jack you'll be going to closet thing to Pottersville; 24 hour booze, gambling, food and women. Like the saying goes; taking a girl to Vegas is like taking sand to the beach.:D

I use Pottesrville constantly to address what I see happening in my Bedford Falls- ugly unaffordable housing (mostly condos, in fact a historic Inn is being partially demolished for this sordid purpose) is replacing modest comfy homes, Portland, once home to mostly Mom and Pops and locally owned restaurants is looking at getting a Hooters in the historic arts district; the once quaint cobblestone street breweries where you met up with friends and made new ones in picnic table style seating has been replaced with seedy pubs with tawdry posters of scantily clad women on the windows.

I like the idea of a seedy section, but let it have retro neon signs and jitterbug dancing, but beyond that, I want Bedford Falls.

Personal Police Force?

The Pinkertons?

I am basically a middle manager at a building and loan. Can I order a mulled wine? But in Pottersville I had best stick with a Dirty Martini at Martini's bar, where they serve strong drinks for men who want to get drunk fast.

I think the usual thing (in upstate NY anyway, where the putative Bedford Falls was supposed to be) was to have a Wide Open Town or two in every county, usually a heavy-industry, heavy-immigrant town. Utica comes to mind, or Hudson in the valley. Thus P-ville ought to be a good 15 miles or so from Bedford Falls down the new 2-lane state highway, the one with the curbs down the sides and a letter after its number.

I haven't been to Fredonia, but I almost went there for a workshop of classical saxophonists. Yes, there are classical saxophonists, and perhaps due to their instrument's carefree reputation, they are some of the most bourgeois, buttoned-down individuals on the planet.

About Utica, I recall reading the bio of swing era trumpeter Pee Wee Erwin. He got to know a club owner-bootlegger there in late prohibition days, and talked of accompanying the man to his "string of houses." I somehow doubt this was an ordinary slum landlord...

That's an easy one. Either Vegas or Frisco. :p ;)
