I have several more, also, in dark green, grey and red. Several instances I've found them in the 'womens' section of thrift stores.

I'm thinking this one is pretty old, seeing how it not only lacks a Woolmark on the label, but it also has no size indication. You know, the S,M,L, etc.

It's not that old, late 50's at the very oldest, most likely from the 1960's just before the woolmark came into use.

The ones to look out for (and the ones that look the best, in my opinion) have the sharp spread collar that Thunder's and Quigley's brown Pendleton's have. This is the iconic '40s look that looks great with the wide point collar of your gab sport shirt popped over the top! When this look went out of fashion, they switched to a notch collar, similar to the ebay item.

It wasn't just Pendleton that produced these shirts, they were made by a variety of companies, such as McGregor and Buck Skein. Some even had pretty hefty shoulder pads that could be removed for laundering.

Yes, the older label don't have the woolmark, but the oldest labels are white with yellow print; I've seen these on board shirts and three pockets from the '30s, '40's, and I assume, early '50s.

I have a nice collection of these that I will try and post pics of this weekend.

...and yes, these are also available for women and can be purchased new:

Yes, please do post some pictures. I look forward to seeing them.

Do you know when Pendleton added the size -- S,M,L. etc. -- to the labels? Or is there a lack of chronological consistency to that?

As I understand it, Pendleton's women's attire still uses the off-white with yellow (or gold, if one prefers) labels.

It's good to know this stuff, seeing how Pendleton is almost iconic, especially out here. The company is headquartered in Portland and has facilities in smaller Oregon and Washington burgs. And the attire suits the climate. Its popularity ebbs and flows (witness the plaids favored by the grunge crowd), but it's always present.

I don't have any of the three-pocket jackets, but I have a real fondness for the shirts-I must have over two dozen of them,at least, and four or five of the 'Hunting' jackets with the pocket in the back. I especially try to collect the authentic tartan shirts.I'm constantly searching eBay. Most of them stay in mothballs most of the time, but I bring out various ones this time of year. Here's a pic I've posted before of some of the lineup:
