I went in blindly taking a gamble.
The label indicated that it was the oldest Morreton I had ever encountered in my life as a hat hunter
View attachment 654637
The shape was that of a hat from the beginning of the last century
View attachment 654638
The saleswoman was aware of its value and so I pressed the button hoping for good luck, also a little deluded by the measurements given to me...
View attachment 654642
Morreton made in France, I think a hundred years ago, maybe more.
The size, unfortunately, is 56 centimeters and its state of conservation is perfect. I add that I was afraid it was a woman's hat but it is not.
View attachment 654644
In my opinion it is a hat for young men also because I have seen some worn in France at the beginning of the last century.

Chapeu Francais Morreton - Marque Deposée, there are no other indications except the size 56 centimeters
View attachment 654646
The measurements of this beauty are: raw brims at 9.5 centimeters, ribbon at 5 centimeters and the lowest point of the crown is at 13 centimeters.

The felt is thick and very solid.
Notice to sailors in the sea of hats, if for someone this hat is a siren with a mischievous charm, write to me.
Seeing it and not being able to wear it is torture. It can arrive in new homes.
Cool find, Daniele. Larger brimmed hats are not that common over here as you know.

That is an excellent sample, Danielle, and a unique color as well.

In the search for something rarely seen in Italian hat making, a Barbisio unexpectedly arrives
View attachment 654929
Probably assembled by the Cervo hat factory at the end of the production of Barbisio hats, it uses a fantastic felt for quality, lightness and color.
View attachment 654930
It is a typical mid-season hat, light, unlined and with a spring sky color.
The characteristics are as follows: Barbisio unlined in light felt with a ribbon of the same material and a zigzag sewn brim, the sweatband is in fabric
View attachment 654931
Size 61 centimeters or 7 in the French scale, true size.
View attachment 654932
The measurements are as follows: brim at 5.5 centimeters, ribbon of 1.5 centimeters and lowest point of the crown at 10 centimeters.
View attachment 654933
For all those who love light and unusual hats.

Wonderful find.
Thanks a lot. It is ancient and particular. What I can ask if not my size? :)

Stefan agree with you completely and a Morreton so old is an event

Barbisio made some wonderful hats even when they are almost dead

I'm guessing 1930s, but if somebody can tell, please let me know. Stetson The Boss Raw Edge with The Fray sweat

EDIT: I don't know what caused that black blob in the middle, but something to do with the phone camera and the black hat.
