regarding the sweatband..Just do like I do ... never take your hat off! lol. In all seriousness, Ive salvaged a couple ripped sweatbands by folding the sweat out and gluing a strip of thin linen or really really thin leather on the back ( veg tan snake, goat, lizard, or calf). I use a contact cement which allows me to fix the ripped ends together quickly exactly where I want it. If a bit of raw leather edge shows, a bit of sharpie touchup hides things pretty well. Follow up with a good preservative like Pecards. Not as nice as a spiffy new sweatband, but, it allows one to keep an original sweatband with cool markings

My newest addition to the hat rack... an Akubra Angler in Loden (size 60).

I've always been interested in the Angler, but had never seen one 'in the felt'. Akubra stock is low EVERWHERE, but I stumbled across a size 60.

Tried it on... loved it... wore it out. It's the first 'real hat' I've worn all day out in public and it just felt right.

Hopefully this gets me over the nerves and I can wear my Fed IVs and Squatter in public and not just around the house and yard.

P.s. Yes, it's a shark tooth... is it a bit gimmicky? Probably. I am in two minds, as I really like the leather band... should the tooth stay or go?

I would say “stay”. It does look a nice hat.. I also think it will only take you a couple of trips out o the house wearing the hat for you to feel more comfortable. Take the leap!

Steve, This Homburg is from VEB Vereinigte Hutwerke Guben so DDR / GDR. My guess is 1960s / 1970s.
