Mossant in brown. Seller sold it as a size 57/58 for 5 euro's. There was no sizelabel according to the seller. So i took the gamble and lost haha. It's defenitely a 57. How hard is it to find a sizelabel???
Nevertheless it's a great hat with soft felt. I will try to stretch it!!

Worth breaking the new years' resolution for. I kept delaying for weeks, maybe months but HAS got the better of me.
Panfilo fedora in a grey colour called "Taro" (a river in Italy). Size 57 with the bound brim at 6cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. Lightweight at 98 grams and thin felt with a nice hand to it, despite the fact that the moths tried a nibble here and there. Great shark gill bow on it as well. Reminds me a lot of my Champ featherweight hat. Panfilo is a trademark of Panizza since 1939.

New Year's resolutions should always be broken, Stefan, if something so tempting like that one turns up.

Panfillo/Panizza, nice shark gill bow, colourful liner, great sweatband fonts. Despite the moth bites, what's not to like and fall off the wagon for?

Thanks, Joe. The women who did the finishing work deserve our respect.

It's true and the other hats that made me fall off are even better. If I can only find them where these idiots from UPS supposedly have dropped them off.

A modern, but the the most modern iteration, Stetson Stetsonian. Navy blue with a 5 ½” open crown and 2 ¾” wide raw edge brim. The felt is thicker and firmer than the most recent version.

Lovely colour on that one. Is it my eye or is this a shorter crown than usual for a Stetsonian?

Adam Hats ‘Mr Bryt’ Dark Brown
5 inch crown as shaped (about 5 1/2 open)
2 inch Light Brown Back Bow Ribbon
2 1/4 brim with Hand Sealed Edge

My latest arrival.. I believe the first of the year. I had put this Adam Hats ‘Mr Bryt’ (I think) on my watch list because of a few features that caught my eye but wasn’t really going to act on it. When the seller offered it to me for about $12, I had to say yes. First off was the 2 1/4 brim with “hand sealed edge” (Cavanagh) the first I have from Adam Hats. The contrasting lighter brown two inch ribbon with back bow really stands out. The crown is fairly full and comes in at around 5 inches as shaped. The liner has an onion skin tip protector with a similar sweat protector behind the sweat. In hand I was a bit surprised to find the hat must have shrunk somewhat as it fits a fair bit more snuggly than it’s tagged size of 6 7/8 even with the split rear seam on the sweat. It has been slowly loosening up stretching back into shape on my head today. The price tag is hard to read and could easily be either $10, $16 or even $18. $16 might be plausible with the hand felted edge on this hat might be targeting a 1950s Twenty from Dobbs, Knox, Stetson ect. The felt quality is good.. it is a stiffer felt that still shapes easily.

Love the all round look of that Adams Joe, especially the wide ribbon, colour, and back bow. Nice buy.

I was pleasantly surprised today by the arrival of a package from Greece - my Italian felts are here early!

First up is the Borsalino. He’s a bit on the smallish side with a 2-1/4 inch brim and a 5 inch crown. The sweatband won’t last much longer but the felt will take any crease without steam - I just wish there were more of it.

A fun adventure but nothing remarkable.

The Barbisio is a treasure. This is very thick felt - it’s like western weight. It took a lot of steam to reshape it. But I love the tiny brim and high crown: brim is 1-13/16 inches and the crown is just below 5-3/4.

The inside is super lush. This strikes me as a hat one might wear to the opera.

Definitely a keeper. My only problem is it smells really bad when steamed. Perhaps it’s the shellac that was used in the thick felt but it smells very chemical to me.

Other than that, I’m quite happy with this guy and am excited to try my hand at a more imaginative bash for this tall crown.

Next Stingymas is already planned with that one. That side profile shows a perfect block.
