A wonderful Playboy in much better condition than I thought based on the seller photos. The felt is a dream—so light, so soft and holds a crease with no steam required. A little staining on the ribbon but otherwise beautiful.

Enjoy the weekend!

Barbisio Sportex Visone in grey. The colour is called Rimini. Size 56 with the raw edge brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. The felt is wonderfully soft on this one and it's very lightweight as well at only 78 grams. A winner.

I could call this Barbisio Incognito, because that's basically what it is. It doesn't say Barbisio anywhere on the hat, but they are definitely the maker. Same size label and tag and same label underneath the sweatband even without their name on it.
So. Barbisio fedora in grey (Cervo on the label). Size 57 with the raw edge brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Wonderful hand to the felt, shapes with ease and holds it without problem. Weighs 94 grams.

Stefan, il duo di Barbisio è bellissimo.
"Cervo" and "Visone" they refer to the finish of the felt. "Rimini" is the color.
I would like to know who made the "Visone" felt because it is a finish that often occurs in the hats of the "Cervo-Barbisio" orbit, this is natural, but also in the Guerra 1855)
Anyway, two great pieces. Complimenti!

Today came in:
Charles Hatters High Quality in black.
Don't know exactly the date of it, maybe @Daniele Tanto can help? I read his post before about this brand, that it was an 'undercover' Borsalino with an english brandname? The felt is stiffer then Borsalino, but it's a well made hat of good quality.

Second one today, same hat in brown. :)
Marcel, yes, I confirm. I'm Borsalino in disguise. Made more "firm" to look English, considering the conception of Italian hatters for felt produced in the UK, considered hard for their construction standards.
It was the moment, like many others in the battle for market shares among Italian hatters and what better marketing than to pass off as English
They are medium-high quality hats and if you have noticed the size is much more European in size than the Borsalinos, which are often narrow.
Ticino is the type of felt. I have a few examples in my collection

I'm sure it won't be your last Bowler. Believe me, I speak from experience as can many here :)

You'll have no trouble pulling the look off in public. It's a beaut of a Bowler and it really does looks good on you. Don't let Randy down now
Ahh, you picked up on the rather obvious clue I left behind. Thank you for the vote of confidence. I'll do my best not to let him down.

I received the Resistol "The Dealer" that I bought the other day, unfortunately this one is going back to the seller. It is a little too smelly for me to want to wear.

Such a shame. I always wanted a black gambler style hat, but living in Japan, it’s a case of beggars can’t be choosers when it comes to western hats, so I just grabbed the first one that came up at a decent price; the Resistol Roper I posted the other day. Your original post of this hat, and the compliments the Roper got, despite being paired with my PJs, have me thinking about the black gambler again. Don’t tell Etsuko!

Thanks, I was pretty bummed it didn't work out but it's just not worth keeping a hat that I can't stand to smell on my head. It wasn't quite unique/valuable enough to put the proper effort into cleaning either. Maybe I'll find one that works in the future.

Thank you, Daniele. As you know I always keep an eye out for Barbisio, so I was glad to find these. The Sportex Visone feels like the later Barbisio hats with the same softness of the felt, on the edge of being floppy.

Stefan, it was for this reason (almost floppy) that I was wondering who the manufacturer of the felt was, because the same sensation to the touch is also found in the Guerra 1855 from the same period and also in some Panizzas. Notwithstanding that a similar finish was difficult to find in those days of the end of "special finishes" :)

Talking about Borsalinos in disguise, here's an interesting one.

Castorino heather in a grey brown colour called m carrubo v (carob). Size 56 with the overwelt brim at 5cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. It was the liner that made me buy this one. The hand of the felt is really fantastic. Shape and proportions are not entirely what I hoped for. At first I thought there was no label but it turns out there was and it's a Borsalino made hat. The misto carrubo colour is new and the label type tells us it was made in 1977.
