Sure the age old question of Ginger or Maryann, but wouldn't it be more fitting here to discuss either Skipper or Gilligan's HAT? What is your preference?

Gilligan's gets points for fondness. If my Dad was still around he'd still be wearing one of three fishing bucket hats he would have gotten from Kmart for 2.99 on blue light special. While not the same, Gilligan's gives me that good memory.

This one came in this week. Some of you have mentioned that they'd like to see me in a western hat and it's true: I don't wear them. Closest I get is wearing an Open Road, which doesn't really count I believe. I own very few of them and I came close to another last year (but that Stetson Buckaroo never made it over here). Truth is that western hats don't really fit in where I live, unless you want to look like a total boob. Doesn't mean I can't be tempted though. So here is one I jumped on.
Barbisio Cow boy in the colour Lisbona (an attractive natural beaver/tan colour). Size 58 with the raw edge brim at 9cm and the crown creased at 11cm. Weighs in at 175 grams. The good news is that I can actually wear it, just like its sibling in black.

A whopping brim, Stefan. Really like the colour and the thin ribbon and bow treatment.

The liner is joyfully colourful.

Many thanks to @Jesse John for passing on this awesome 1960s Strat with a 2 1/4 brim. I’ve always wanted a strat this color. And of course any hat of Jesse’s is going to come with a pretty sharp crease. Still have to steam and stretch a touch to get out the slight wobble in the brim but going to be wearing this one a lot.

Cheers,

David

Looks great on you, David. I don’t think I’ve seen a Strat with that short of a brim.

Mallory Homburg, arrived today. Big thanks to Brent @deadlyhandsome for sending it my way.

Very soft putty like felt. Still playing around with the overall shape and bash. Love the dimensions.

Was drawn to it by the shape and colour, and especially by the ribbon treatment.

Intriguing logo under the Mallory name. Was this some kind of advertising link back in the day? Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the hat:

The sweat is thin, soft, supple, and thus very comfortable.

All in all, I'm going to get a lot of hat mileage out of this one.
