Dang!
Dang!
Oh how disappointing. Beautiful hat
Seconded. Straw hats don't normally catch my attention, but I'd definitely take a closer look at that one if I saw it for sale somewhere...uh, and it was actually a size 7-1/2.That’s a heartbreaker. Such a great looking hat.
Real nice. Looks like an oldie!

Lion Hats - Premium Centredent
Grey/BlueGrey Felt
4 3/4 crown as shaped with center dent - about 5 inch open
2 inch speckled pattern blueish ribbon
2 inch brim with blueish silver/grey grosgrain binding
Grey sweatband
This is the third hat from the recent trio of hats is by Lion Hats… the predecessor brand of Beaver Brand hats by Langenberg. I’ve had a few hats made by Langenberg/Beaver for other brands but none with the Lion Hats brand. Most of the ones I’ve come across have all had the same kinda later 60s stingy with black sweat. This one while it doesn’t appear to be much older and still a short brim at two inches is a bit less run of the mill to me. First off the ribbon has an unusual and beautiful pattern to it. And second is the grey leather sweat which is more of the out of the ordinary to me. I did not want to get too deep under the sweat and risk cracking so I did not find any manufacturers tag. The plastic liner tip covering the purple Lion Hats logo and the look of the sweat reeding along with the styling leave me no reason to think age is any earlier than 60s… or late 50s at earliest. Still I find it an intriguing hat. The “imported Coney Fur” (rabbit) felt color is fairly hard to pin down. It is a steel grey with a bit of blue tones in lower light. Though I noticed in today’s super bright direct sun it had an almost pinkish or lavender hue. Add to that it has.. I think from age.. a slight yellowish cast that sits right at the surface of the fibers. So it is a bit of a chameleon. I am really happy with how well this one cleaned up considering the lumpy dusty mess it was in the seller photos.

Great clean up job, Joe. Wonderful ribbon!
Nice ribbon. And the result of the hat is great!
Brent, It's Miesbacher (Miesbach, Bavaria) Trachtenhut (traditional hat) style. I assume the location on the liner is a store because Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a famous Ski Resort in Oberbayern (Upper Bavaria). There is no mark on the paper label but probably made by one of the Bavarian Hat companies of the time. I will see if I can find a similar paper label format. Looks like the liner is stitched in. Is that the case? The Velour looks to be of a good quality. This remains a bit of a mystery. It’s Stetson size tag doesn’t seam to match the actual size of the hat but the measurements match the “56” on the label on the felt (it’s close and the hat could well have shrunk a bit). The label doesn’t seem to match the markings on the leather sweatband. The liner is also very odd. Anyone care to opine? Maybe @mayserwegener could shed some light?

Oh dear!Great hat, Snowman. The "D" variant (derby variant) is 4 times as transmissible as the original HAS. Now that you are infected, it helps to be around more derbies
Sorry how that one turned out. Real nice band though.A “mystery” Texas Hatters that I bought at auction based on the single photo of the liner and no sizing info. I’d like to say I was drunk at the time — maybe I should have been.
This shipped from Canada and apparently Fed-Ex cancelled some sort of contracts with third party carriers right at the time this shipped that ended making the shipping $75 (instead of what would have been $25). The auction house and I ended up splitting that increase.
The hat turned out to be too small for my wife (although she did snag the bead/quill hat band). It will probably be on eBay this week.
