I'm sure it's phenomenal in Steel Grey, but I'm really liking the mid-brown color it photographed as (that's how it looks on my monitor). Either way, that's a hat I'd wear the heck out of!

I wonder if the mixed number keyhole tag “rule” applies also on LO tag to put it in very late 50s very early 60s window.

Somewhat lighter and softer than I expected, but that's not a complaint.

As I recall, I made that assumption some time back and someone I really respect for their Stetson knowledge questioned me on it. I don’t “know” and I’m not sure there is consensus on it. The liner is glued in and the crown is only 5 1/2 inches…not sure why, but I associate that lower crown height with 1960s and later Open Roads.

Thanks, gents. As Mike said to me, this is a style not often seen. He said he got a lot of comments on it when it was sitting in his shop. I wanted something a little different but still bowler-ish and the Cambridge seemed like the natural next step. In retrospect, I should have bumped the crown up another 1/2 to 1 inch, but without having one in-hand to compare, I didn't want to stray too far into top hat territory!

A slightly different New Hat Post than usual for me.
My new to me Druids Oak Tricorn .
I was recently commissioned Colonel, Commanding of the Kingston Reds Rhode Island Historic Militia.
Founded in 1775, the Kingston Reds, 3rd Kings County Regt. are 1 of 14 remaining Historic Chartered Military Commands whose lineages stretch back to the mid 18th century that serve in mostly ceremonial rolls under the Adjutant General of the RI National Guard.
I descend directly from multiple founding members including the original Commander Capt. Nathan Taylor, elected by the Company in October 1775.
Pics of me in uniform to come eventually as I am usually the one taking them.
