LIKE to ALL your fine felt finds, Max!! Now that you've had some opportunity to hold and feel so many varied felts, what can you say about the "hand," or feel of them? Especially the Macs, a nd that 7X, of course...
The best is the 7X. Marvelous. The Marque Grand Luxes are great, too. The Mac Lachlans are thick, soft, supple, really nice, but not as nice as those two.
Brent was right in that you get spoiled if you feel the best.
It is curious... I never felt as rich as I do now that I have all these hats. I keep telling myself that every time I pay my credit card bills.
I still want a Flagship, a Turf Club, a Shore Club, a nice Gun Club, a couple of Forties, maybe another Whippet, and some of those nice Italian wider-brimmed hats Daniele is finding for me, and then I will consider my collection complete, unless something really special comes along. Maybe an extra-nice Sisal.
Luckily, I am not especially attracted to straws. I already have a couple, and don't feel like I want more. A guy could go broke with those.

Holy moly, Max. looks like you're out to start a hat museum of your own. No vintage hat is safe anymore. The Mac lachlan is a great piece, but I have to give it to the Borsalino nutria though (what can I say? I'm a fan of the brand).

With apologies to Ross Perot, I can't help but think of him every time I read about one of Dr. Max's hat hauls! "You hear that giant sucking sound? That's all the nice vintage fedoras headed south of the border!" :D:D

No offense intended, Dr. Max, I enjoy seeing all your finds and reading about their different qualities. I really like that Borsalino Nutria MGL; in Natural, I assume? I hope my warped sense of humor doesn't crimp your collecting activities, as that is the only way I will get to see some of these beauties!

Maybe they will come back to this side (I am in Wisconsin now). I might retire in Florida or San Diego.

I think they zeroed out the hat tariff in yesterday's trade agreement.

Well my dear loungers, I would like it to be my size. This together with the other Sools arrived today is one of my oldest finds since the passion for hats devours me. A pair of Borsalino are in Netherlands and another pair of antique hats are in America.
Unfortunately, nobody remained in my hands. because of the big size of my head. Honestly, I tell you that when I'm going to make a hat this will be his form
wufec8.jpg

Sools was a famous hat sellers in Paris. Many important brands produced for this high end house
9ld5iq.jpg

This Sools is made of a lightly hairy beige felt. In these picture the beige has the best rendition
1zv6gzd.jpg

As for the other, the width of the sweatband, the lack of lining and the only tip glued to the top of the crown, make me think it may be the same age, perhaps the years 20. I have others French old hats and they have the same features
2nb8r53.jpg

The finish is masterful. The seam of the brim is unique in its kind and fantastic shape.
These the dimensions: the brim is 6 cm. over sewn with three seams, the crown at the lowest point is 12 cm. and the contrasting ribbon in black is 5 cm.
344v8go.jpg

There are no signs of moths, but I think it is appropriate to wash it well and recondition the sweatband
mhaslx.jpg

Its size is a large 56. The paper label is only hand-written with a fountain pen
2u478mh.jpg

It's like being in a restaurant ready to eat one of the favorite dishes, but suddenly the cook runs away from the kitchen.
It is destined to leave me :(, we will see where it will go
