Another great find Michael. It is interesting that Dobbs had a "place name" thing going with their models.

Thanks Red. And thanks for posting the ad. I wonder if they were named for known landmarks at all of those universities? They seem relatively expensive for a schoolboys hat in the late 1930s. I didn't get a photo of it, but I got a look at the manufactures tag and according to the Dobbs dating guide here it came into use in or near 1950 and he shows an example of a Hanover Square with the same sweat embossment that dates to the 1940s.

Beautiful hat, Michael. Goes well with the outfit too. Pity about the mothing, but in the pictures it's not that obvious.
Thanks steur. Fortunately the moths stayed above the crease line and on the bottom of the brim. A pity in any case.

Thanks all,
Michael

Esther Weis Sisal in Anthracite.

Extremely soft and lightweight.

Loved everything, even the Sweatband has a special deep mate black that is stunning, by far my favorite straw, darn close to perfection..

I am so glad I ordered it and let Esther play with the pug as headband.

This hat tells you it was made by a lady.

Unbeatable.

This is my last(edit:latest) purchase, Akubra Campdraft in bluegrass green - this is my first open crown hat. First dry bash at the moment :) We'll see what comes next...

wonderful crease
nice work
steam that thing in because it is perfect
no need to change it at all in my eyes
Thanks :) To pinch turned out a little bit asymmetrical - it's not straight above my nose, it might not be visible on the pictures. Regardless of that I'm definitely going to stick with chicken footprint - I love the organic look of it.
Last or latest? Great crease and you wear it well.
latest of course ;) thanks for pointing this out. I'm afraid this Akubra it's going to start open crown fever for me...

no reason for symmetrical ... looks perfectly imperfect ... just the way a fur felt hat should

when you try to "fix" it you take all the personality right out of it ... just one mans opinion
