The hat that goes with the tip and tag photos above. Stetson

With some rather stubborn ring around the telescope that a quick gas bath wouldn't get rid of.

3" brim, 5.5" open crown, 1" ribbon. Should make a decent around town beater. Stains or no.

Anyone have any ideas on what this model might have been called?

Fantastic Michael! Is it kind of a light cream color? It looks really light and airy. Super nice!

Picked up this fella which was put to work for sure. The definition of a beater hat.

And loosely related I suppose, an old Willcox & Gibbs sewing machine. Uncharted territory for me as I don't know too much about it, but it was calling my name.

Nice finds Tonio. Are you going to take off the leather belt?

Great sewing machine. I remember really wanting to find one of those at one time. It sews a two thread chain stitch, doesn't it?

Thanks Michael, not sure that I'll leave the leather on. It's not really my style. On the other hand, the hat is dirty and discolored it kinda adds to its ruggedness.

From what I gather the sewing machine is possibly from 1890 or so based on the serial number being part of the "A series". I've never really sewed anything, but I was facinated with it and I'm going to see if I can get it working.

There is something to be said for rugged, and for hiding stains.

I see they made special models for making straw hats and other hat work. Cool.
