Been shopping around for some cheaper straws to supplement my more delicate ones. Took a chance on this one for $45. Seems to fit the bill. Very tight weave and fairly heavy for a straw but the construction is not bad. Sewn in liner and the sweat is leather though very primitive. The brim, 2 3/4" is soft and flexible but the crown is about as hard as a coconut shell. The hat band is some kind of elasticized material that looks as if it may have come off a pair of Bob Roberts heinous underwear. Not much info on the company, at least in a language that I can understand. I know they make traditional sombreros and cowboy hats. The only other examples of a hat like this that I have seen is a promotional one for Corona beer with the logo all over it.

A Stetson "Open Road" Royal Deluxe soft Fedora style with wind trolly. Has original box. A good friend gave this to me last night. It belonged to his father who passed away last year......he knew I liked hats and he had no use for it....he told me about it but was unsure of size.....I was very doubtful it would fit (I am a 7 1/2 to 7 5/8). Well long story short......IT FITS LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Differant color than it photographs...........a sort of yellow-grey-tan.....Sand Color perhaps? Could not find a blocking tag but could be behind the liner.....I was very cautious about peeking behind the sweat......sweat is a sort of very very deep brown..........not sure of it's age.....

They came in a very tight box, they needed air and a fit
Here are two Borsalino, probably at the end of the seventies or early eighties.
Both finished with a short hair felt very soft.
Very well kept, have the charm of classic Italian hats in the last 40 years.

Amiata 5 cm brims and crown at 11 cm. matching ribbon with overwelted brim

Folco 5.5 cm brims and crown at 11.5 cm. matching ribbon and raw brim

They both have to sleep until October. They have taken a ride in the garden to be photographed :)
May be the felt season is over....who can say it?

I've seen similar hats at the local tienda down here. It looks great, which is the important thing, and it ought to provide a fair amount of head protection should you ever have too many Corona-ritas and fall down.
