Nice, Bob. Good get (for the wife!). It looks like something round may have sat on that portion of the brim, discoloring it. If a little distilled water doesn't clear it up, try white vinegar on it - maybe scrub a bit with a soft toothbrush. Of course, if either of those leave a watermark, you may have to give it a short dip in naphtha.

Distilled water > white vinegar > naphtha bath

Just won this gorgeous Resistol from Miamibruno on the 'bay. 2 3/8 brim, 5 1/2 crown, kitten finish. Cost $11.95 in the '50s. Love it.

Great find Bob even though it ends up being worn by your wife.
The Bundschu name must be from an early settler because there is a road named that also.

Thanks Jack. I think the store was bought by Emery, Bird, Thayer and then Macy's before it went out.

In a small way, this neophyte collector has arrived. My first custom from Mike at NW Hats in Eugene. This is the 1942 Rose Bowl fedora! I had Mike copy a hat from the 1942 OSU Beaver yearbook. I will be wearing this for the festivities of the 75th Anniversary of the '42 Rose Bowl during OSU Homecoming in October. Full beaver felt for an OSU Beaver!

Thanks Harv! I also got a "senior" discount on it (and it was the day after "senior" discount day -- I didn't even ask). Maybe it was the beard thing that Hurricane Jack referred to in another thread. This is the fifth hat my wife has ended up with.

Wow, love it Redfokker! Mike did a great job, as usual. You wear it well! What color is the felt?

Pecan - kind of a chameleon light brown. I think it will be really wearable in most situations. My leather A-2 jacket is waiting for it when the weather breaks.

Are you messing with me? I found a CC Bundshu (brother of AJ and son of AJ senior -- the founder). No RC ... although my Google foo has been a bit off lately.

You have to see this hat in person to appreciate the various undertones it displays.... blues, grays..., etc. I went to see Mike at NW Hats last Saturday and saw Redfokker's hat before it was finished. Pecan was not the hat I was thinking about we we drove to Eugene, but once I saw Red's hat, that's what I had to have.

A-1 hat skills by Mike, and a great tribute hat for RF!
