I am in Houston as well. How do you rate the quality of Miller Hats? Since I'm on the South/Southwest side of the city, it's quite a drive, especially since I would have to take off work to get there.

They seem to be of solid quality for the price. Mine is not a ultrasuperduperfino Montecristi, but I didn't have to sell an organ to finance it either. They have a decent selection of all sorts of hats and caps, and while I was looking specifically for straw, they had some nice felt hats too that won't break the bank. I have a thing about being able to try a hat on, so I'm not big on ordering online, and being able to do so was helpful (in fact, I tried on at least four of this hat in this size before I settled on the individual one I liked). They were very friendly and helpful. If they were baseball players, I'd say they're not All-Stars, but they're solid everyday players.

Keep in mind that I'm not a collector and don't view hats as an investment. I often grab them by the crown, take them off at the dinner table, and don't store them in a box. So take my opinion with that in mind.

On a side note, Miller is open Saturdays...don't know if that would make it easier for you or not.

Brüder Böhm "Luxor", 59cm, Wool, NOS condition, with Böhm Hat Holder and Paper Size Tag, probably late 1930s. Old Brüder Böhm Soft Felts are very rare finds. This is from my latest Czech find.

I think this might be a cloth based sweatband. The separation doesn't appear to be from stretching.

In my search of the "perfect" homburg I place this Bruder Bohm in the first ten!
It was made in wool, the main component of the hats near, on and around the Alps.
The shape and proportions are very traditional, very Central Europe centered.
A classic!

Janyška "Praga", 58cm, NOS condition but with Mothing, Janyška Hat Holder, probably late 1930s early 1940s. More of a Chamois like finish and with thin Sweatband. This one is from my latest Czech find.

The Janyška "Praga" is an excellent homburg too, but my vote is for the Bruder Bohm........if a 60 cm. is available I don't say no at all

Daniele, Thanks! I agree about the BB "Luxor". Maybe I will try to wear it today. The Janyška "Praga" hats are actually good warmer weather hats (no liner and lighter weight).

Brüder Böhm "Lido", 58cm, Crown Open 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 inches, very light weight 100g / 3.5oz, NOS condition with mothing, original Paper Size Tag, probably late 1930s. The felt finish is very smooth with a white (a slight hint of green) granite rock effect. It's on the stiffer side but will hand crease. There is a Hare on the logo so it could be fur felt but not really sure because of the processing. A very unique hat but probably not in its time and place. :) This is from my latest Czech find.

Wonderful variety of hats, Steve! Your Czech find is amazing. I chuckle when I see the name Karel on some of your hats. That is the spelling of my mom's name.
