After selling one too many beautiful Borsalinos my new mantra for this fine speciman is,I will not sell this, will not sell this , will not sell this. Gorgeous color and condition in my size too! Very happy as I cant remember the last time I found a Borsalino as nice as this one.

Not new, but new to me. Found at a Goodwill for 5 dollars. It's even my size.

Don't know if Naples is brand or model, or neither. I will admit I don't know a lot about different straw types or weaves, so I was wondering if this was a Milan or other type. Union label looks to be '34 to '83. Sweatband is reeded, but the reed tape looks a lot smaller than others I have seen. The sweat was dry with a small tear, so I put on some leather conditioner to soften it up. I may or may not keep the crown the same. All in all, decent looking hat for 5 bucks. :)

I've been looking to build my straw collection for a while now, so today I headed down to my newly discovered, old fashioned nondescript hat store downtown with the old fashioned hat guy sitting half asleep in his shoe shine chair and picked up this beautiful (to me) Panama. Ive worn my $25 Panama Bob Special hard and need something that will go a greater distance. This one is nice and stiff with a gorgeous leather sweat and will last 10 times as long. I paid a little more than I would have had I bought it online, but the experience of having someone go through his supply to find me just the right fitting hat was worth the extra money.

Originally it had a 4" crown with a lot of curl in the brim, but with a little bit of steam, I was able to bring it up a half inch or so and tame the brim.

Here it is with a pleated navy pug I have lying around. What do you think?

TY moon. I was pretty stoked when I saw it.
hatsRme-I guess I could leave it as is for a while to see if the crown style grows on me. I find that as I experience more and different hats, my idea of what's cool and what's not seems to change (mostly my appreciation grows).

Meh... that was the big secret...?

Well... a secret from my wife... LOL. I walked in, and the owner said, "So you got permission from your wife!?" I said, "Hey man, if you're going to be my hat supplier, you're going to have to function as my lawyer AND my priest. You can't tell anyone anything."

So I posted this hat earlier in open crown.
Just bashed it now.

I was looking at my other two CDs and my Bushman.... And they are all center crease.

So influenced by forum member Colby Jack on pg 6 of this very thread I went with more of a stomp and a tight pinched front... Which I also have bashed into my Fed IV and I love it.

Fruno and Bob were asking about the Deluxe felt compared to the Imperial... My other two CDs are imperial .
The felt on this one is slightly smoother and the softness is comparable to my BGG that has been in many torrential downpours... In other words it's a bit softer.

Hope you dig
