Thanks Richard,
unfortunately yes! I guess they had 20 or 30 hats. Most in larger sizes. 58 59 60 61.
That was the last stand and I don't had enough money for all the hats.
I thought on all my friends here in the lounge and I had tears in my eyes but I must leave them there.
Maybe I see that young couple again then I will buy more hats.

Your nice newest hat is a winner! It has a real timeless look and appeal to it, that many similar hats just do not have. Would have guessed it to be from the Old West time period, it just has that sort of look to it.

Wonderful Rockel Melone Manfred aka flea market raider.

Anybody have a guess how ol it is ? , how far back did Stetson use the reedless sweatband ?
specs are
brim 2 1/2''
crown 5 1/8'' open
bashed 4 3/4'' at its highest point

Specs compared to my Bantam weight are the same except the brim on the Bantam brim is 2 3/8''
& the Bantam has a tiny reed on the sweatband
the weight, color, ribbon color, same for these royal de luxe hats, both linerless a well & no tip stickers each

ill do a comparison in the appropriate thread.

Love the finish on your lid Manfred! It looks great on you

Che that is an insanely nice Open Road! I really like the 2 1/2" brim

I also brought home a black oldie today:

Unfortunately, a steam and brushing revealed the extent of the damage...as depicted here

Unfortunately a 7 Long Oval. This one is a mystery: the liner is glued to a shell of white paper behind it. No tags to be found. Still a nice piece [huh]

Alan : Don't forget to post it in the Sweet Sweats thread. Absolutely a No.1! :eusa_clap

Garrett : Wow! What a Dapper Dan hair-do on that bowler. Beautiful! Congratulations :)

These are all some wonderful keepers! In some ways make me wonder, why it is some people never think they would find something their size, Vintage and clean, and a wonderful find? You know at times someone will sort of complain about it, or the price....lol But really, look at these gems! We actually discuss what the hat history may be, if the hat could only talk? You know some of the older hats that did see use, even as well kept as they are, had to collect some history along the time of ownership from someone back then.

Alan, Youf Stetson No.1 Quality is a real beauty! The sweatband work is fabulous!

Garrett, Great to see the old Bowler arrived. Do you think it's silk or fur? It looks like it was applied in sheets.

I think its silk - super thin strands and it lays/behaves in the same way as the ancient toppers

Very cool bowler, Garrett. That has to mark as the first furry bowler I've ever seen! Too bad the sweat is missing and I'd guess it is too fragile to have one put in, too, huh?

Very interesting old piece, Garrett. Is that the seam in the plush that we are seeing circling around the top of the crown? Looks to be in good shape except for the damage to the brim binding.
