Trying to work out why I bought this, got it at a local carboot today, I think I might have got it rather cheap, £45 with a Henry Heath Box (very tatty) and a pari of vintage leather formal dress gloves

Lock & Co Silk Top Hat ( UK 6 5/8)

Great find Rick! I'd like to find a Waco too.

Thanks! The fun part was discovering that it was a Waco on the hidden tag, as the eBay listing just described it as a "Vintage Resistol". I may go back to the cattlemans crease on this hat, but I'll roll with it like this for a while.

1920s or older(?) Emerson Special.

The felt is a deep Brown/green with silver flecks. Looks like a mix between a longhair and a regular finish. The Reed is made of yarn.

Paddy - that looks in great condition. I don't know what sort of price you'll get with that size - I've seen 7 1/2s go for 8-9 hundred, but I suspect size plays a big part.

Richard - I look forward to seeing headshots of that bold beauty.

Justin - that's a lovely colour felt.

Scored Another One

Hot digittie dog I did it again !

The guy who put in a bid was a "newbie " because he has only bought 2 things on free bay according to his bidding history .

With 3 seconds to go I put in a max bid of $60.00 dollars but I am just tickled pink because he only put in one starting bid of just 1 penny over the asking price so I got it for only 1 dollar above the original asking price and if it could not get any better it comes with FREE SHIPPING!

Excuse me but right about now I'm dancing a jig here in the room and I have to go get a beer to celebrate whoo whoo:D

This is my first Derby and I just love the look of it not to mention the price , any ideas as to age ?
I am guessing mid to late 1950's ?

Very nice score, Frank! It's a Homburg, though - not a Derby/Bowler :)

I don't know much about Dobbs dating, but Brad Bowers is usually a great source of knowledge on that subject

Thanks Dane ,I was just discussing that with another lounger Garrett and he was thinking the same thing as you .
It figures I already have a really nice black wide brimmed Homburg as well as two different shades of grey burgs and a brown one .

Well at any rate the price was right . Again thanks for your input.

Well, the one you just won looks really nice. An obvious keeper. Maybe you should consider a new ribbon on one of blacks? A deep burgundy can be very elegant on a black hat - and so can a deep midnight blue. Just an idea ... :)
