1950's Stetson Semi-Long Hair Lightweight Felt

I just received this one this past weekend. I don't usually wear 1950's hats in their original form (I usually convert 50's hats to 20's/30's styles) but this one is SO COOL! I am going to wear it just as it is. The felt isn't super lightweight, but most definitely a lighter weight than a Standard 50's Stetson Dress Weight hat. The liner is made of a ventilated mesh material more than likely meant for spring/summer wearing. The off white patterned pug is a great addition to the semi-long haired felt.

I went looking for an OPS example the other day and could not come up one to show the boys. I own hats with the oil silk liner covers and this manufacturing stamp.

Cornhill Premiere Stratoliner fresh out of the box! Disappointed that the ribbon did not cover the stitching out of the box, but great quality felt.

Looks good Rick. Sewing ribbons in the right place seems to be a lost art - it's not just Stetson who are sloppy.

Particularly with thin-ribboned hats, the current practice of applying a few tack stitches vs. sewing around the entire circumference, allows the ribbon to slide up the crown between tacks. For example my Stetson Premiere Stratoliner which arrived the other day, had the frontal portion of its ribbon pulled up. I used my finger nails backed by a supporting thin knife blade, to re-position the ribbon down along the crown/brim interface where it belongs.

Thx for asking. There was the slight irritation with the tack stitches themselves which also affected another forum member ~ detailed in post #723 of the following thread:

Overall I'm generally quite pleased with my latest acquisition in Black & I'm currently debating whether I should order another in Cornhill, or perhaps in Mink, or maybe in Caribou...these things are addictive
