Exceptional hats Richard. I really like the ribbon width on the grey one, and the green hued stingy is perfect.

Here's my Black Sheep Hat Works western conversion. It started out as a Resistol 3X western heavy weight that led a work life. I just wanted a decent green hat and this what Bob turned out:

Specs creased: crown front: 4 3/8, middle: 5 1/2, back: 5, brim: 2 3/8

Couldn't be more happy with the results.

A J.C. Penney Marathon, which I believe Lee produced. I'm working on stretching it from 7-1/4 to 7-3/8, we'll see how it goes. It's the widest ribbon hat I own measuring in at a whopping 2-1/2"

Borsalino Alessandria

Picked this Borsalino up not too long ago for a nice price. It had the Ops tag on it so I guess that would place it around the early 50s (not sure what years the tag was used). The hat appears to have been hardly worn. It has a 2 3/4 plus brim with grosgrain edge and a 5 1/2" open crown which is wrapped in a 1 3/4" grosgrain ribbon and an unreeded sweatband.

That's a real beaut Ps. The OPS tag is the most reliable dating method for dating your Borso since their construction methods varied little over a very long period of time.

Only 5 bucks and in my size. I figured if nothing else, I could use it to practice cleaning techniques and maybe alteration/conversion.

Nothing to loose at 5 bucks!

W.W. Mann's Factory Hat Shop Ann Arbor

Mysterious long hair with no identifying marks or labels. Could be early. References I found to the store are teens to 1930s - the motto "City of Knowledge and Homes" was adopted by the Ann Arbor Civic Assoc. in 1913. Very soft felt with a deeply scooped brim flange. 6" open crown, 2 3/8" brim, 2 1/4" ribbon. No size marked, it fits 6 7/8 - 7.

Thanks Mike. I also understand that tag behind the sweatband is often used to help dating Borsalinos since the company stopped putting "Borsalino" on the tag at a certain time. Looks like someone wrote their name and address on this tag. It's hard to make out the name and address but it looks like Independence MO. It's hard to read what is under the writing.
