I received this Hopkins Baltimore Genuine Panama Panacool as a gift. Baltimore was known as US straw hat making center. I am thinking 1950s.

Won this Dobbs Guild Edge on Ebay for the opening bid. The hat is really exceptional, and the feel of the felt is more luxurious than I'm used to. The hat arrived exactly as described, but not the color I was expecting. The seller did describe it as grey, but I was hoping it would be more taupe or tan, as the auction photos would suggest:

I'm very happy with it nonetheless, and for now I think I'm actually going to leave the feather in.

That is indeed quite a difference in color, Jeff, but I think the grey looks good on you. All too many Ebay sellers do not think it important enough to accurately represent the felt color in their listings by manipulating the light source or white balance.

Nice, beefy 'Guild Edge'!

This is the last of her stack of hats, apparently. I also got a great 1930s British shirt from her for peanuts. The same vintage fair also threw up a very rare light brown, 1935 dated suit that fits me perfectly.

Sounds great. I wish that I had easy access to a fair of the sort you describe. Enjoy your finds!
