More in The Panama Canal.

(Sorry for the huge photos; I set my pics at medium on Photobucket [320 x 300 pixels] and even small [140 x 160] and they come out the same size: enormous. Does anyone have advice on correcting this?)

Frayed box-bow. Sweatband is nearly 2-1/4" wide. Brim is 4-3/4" without flattening the curl. A little over 7" open crown, 5-1/2" at front with crease. Finely finished felt--enough for two hats.
Now that one is fascinating. British made cowboy hat.

I wonder if you can push it down and get a deep C-crown or
5-point crown? That could look good. Kinda like my Stetson 5X
Clear Beaver.

Another new panama

I picked this one up from PB also. For some reason I had to have one with a brown ribbon in addition to a black. Probably a deep seeded fear from being made fun of when I was younger for wearing a black belt with brown shoes or something. This one is not as fine as my caballero but it still is very very nice. Thanks again Panama Bob.

A little bit different to the usual Dunn-fare that one sees (Bowlers, lots of Trilbys, caps etc) but, well, kudos to Dunn's for being far more adventurous and varied than I ever thought of them.....

Your new everyday-wear hat, RLK? ;)

I want to see the brim flange for that one.

Christy's invented the "Boss of the Plains" so I guess Dunn was making the Western's too. Requires caution when walking through doorways. Now I need the appropriate suit to wear[huh]

"Boss of the Plains" by Christy's

Funny about the BOtP: When I se ethe images of that hat it looks very gimmicky and dude-ish to my eye. More about silver screen cowboys than the real ones of back when. Ironic, because it was the real deal.

I'll put some decent photos in the C & K thread when my new camera arrives shortly. Hat would have been near perfect except they stored another on it and crumpled the ribbon badly. Easing it flat gradually. Waiting for Brad on the age estimate, although its 1934 or earlier for certain.

Robert, where the heck did you get that C&K???? I never saw it! If I had, you might have had a fight on your hands.

The union was kicked out of the C&K factory in 1909 as a result of the 1908 strike, so it's prior to that. The shop wasn't unionized again until 1946. That means the hat should be older than 1909, and I suspect it might be older than 1906, as that's the year "Knapp-Felt" and "Knapp-Felt DeLuxe" were first used. Your logo is a completely new one to me. Any other tags inside that beauty?

Disney Fifteen

I made two very lucky local Antique Mall finds today. The first one was this size 7 3/8 felted edge Disney Fifteen plus original box with Courier and Ives scenes. The condition is very good and from a local DC retailer. The wide horizontal striped box ribbon is really nice. More details in the Disney Diner thread.

Stetson Flexible Conforming Derby

The second find was this size 7 3/8 Stetson Flexible Conforming Derby "Styled for the Hecht Company, Washington, DC" plus original Stetson hat box. Same owner as the Disney Fifteen. Looks like it was hardly ever worn.

Just picked up this Biltmore Senator from craigslist for a measly $15! it was a bit dusty, and the centerdent was a bit mishapen, but it quickly and easily took a beautiful teardrop!... its a very nice shade of greenish grey, or greyish green... its a size 7.5, and will make an excellent casual wear hat, and good for when i don't want to sweat in my vintage's :)

shown with a pair of Allen Edmond shoes I got a thrifstore today for another $15! My first pair of decent dress shoes, as I didn't even know they were that 'decent' when I bought them! only discovered they were nice when i got home and googled the name :)
