A vintage custom hat by Joicy of Baltimore that I fished off the bay, sold by the late owner's son. More in the Ebay thread.

Alex, Super find! Is there any paper label inside? I live near Baltimore so maybe I can find out something about the maker (assuming that isn't a model name). Baltimore was actually a thriving hat making (especially straws) center back in the day.

Alan, Beautiful Stetson Homburg! Rare to find an old Homburg in a unique color. Always enjoy seeing such gems!

Thank you! The color has that greenish tobacco tinge that defies photographic rendering. It does come off a little darker in person than in this photo.

Tim, your PM Inbox is full....

Allow me to share my very first hand made fedora. Finding vintage in my size of 7-3/4 has been a challenge; so a while back I started buying some things I needed to make my own hats. See below the result of my first crack on the block.

Specs:
Crown: 5-7/8 open
Brim: 2-5/8
Sweat 24-1/4''
Body: Beaver-Winchester
Color: Steel Grey
Ribbon: Vintage US Ribbon Co. Dark Blue, roll indicates size 9

I am looking forward to making more hats…..needless to say I may be posting some of my current collection to the classified section to support the habit.

Enjoy…….feedback please.

Cheers,

Tim

nice!!!!!

Nice one looks like a good back to school present. :)

Ditto! Great looking hat. Congrats!

Wow, nice Joicy Alex. I love the color, looks like a greenish gray. Pretty hat!

Thanks!

I hadn't thought to look behind the sweatband yet. Thanks for reminding me! Here's what I could find. I couldn't get the tag out any further, as its sown in along with the liner.

Alex, Thanks! It looks like there might have been some type logo on the left side of the paper label (last photo). I am not up the union stamps. Could 89 be the factory number?

As for the tag, I think the portion on the left is just the part of the tag I accidently tore trying to lift up the sewn liner (whoops), though there does seem to be a bit missing before my goof. As for the union labels, I've no idea. Most pics I can find have a similar number but no explanation as to its significance.

I'm pretty stoked to get my 1984 Stetson Indiana Jones fedora delivered tomorrow that I scored online. It's Caribou with the black band, like new condition with original box, tags and pin. Until I can truly afford an Adventurebilt, this will do.

I went to the closest hat shop over the weekend which is an hour away and had a gander at their newest shipment of Head N' Home hats. I bought a Honey Stoker bought there about 2 months ago and I was really tempted to get another in a different color. Maybe next weekend I'll be telling you fine gents about what I brought home!

Thanks! AL... maybe tomorrow. :)

Brad, this Cross Country is a stylistic kissin' cousin of my early Stetson Playboy... I'm thinking this is c.1940, but looking forward to your assessment.
