Sorry about the model. The only female around hid under the chair after I put a hat on her.[huh]

I bought this hat on Saturday morning from a yard sale for 25 cents. I think I did all right. Sized 7 ¼ - 6 – 59 no model name. No mothholes or nibbles nice and clean. I am very happy and my first Borsalino. It even has a wind cord! All for a quarter!

Congrats! Man you did well!!! I never see anything anywhere near that cheap at yard sales even for cheap wool garbage. Seems like most people selling anymore are looking everything up on ebay and the internet thanks to all of these TV shows promoting "picking."

Mayser Talpa (Mole in Italian), size 56cm, 1930s. This is the first old Mayser soft felt I have found after looking for 6 years so very rare. The Velour color and finish (Mole like?) are right up there with the finest old Austrian Velours. More details in the German - Austrian thread.

Thanks! This is my top find so far this yer. It does appear gray is popular. They could also be trying to coordinate with felt color. I know this is was the case with JHS.

VM... dunk the whole hat in water till it is soaked.
Be sure to do this when you can wear it til it is dry.
The palm leafs likes and needs a dunking ever so often.

You can also shape it with ease when it has been dunked.

Oh cool thanks for the advice any tips on the gap on the bibbon

Hi, I own three no four Sun Body palm leaf hats now, I used to own another one, but I let it dry out and it cracked (when I sat on it). If you dunk your hat once a month in the summer, it will last a LOT longer.

Wow, gamez, that's a looker! Lots of stitching next to the sweatband. What's that about?

I still don't have a hat with two colors of grosgrain, one for the ribbon, one for the brim binding.

Therefore, the search must continue!

:)
